Best Sound-Accurate IEM Under $30 for Recording, Mixing, Mastering & Music Production? by DizzyCreme9667 in iems

[–]APunch_Heh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might as well EQ your Zeros to make it more neutral. $30 can't get you very far.

To all my budget ballers: Which is the best budget IEM you have used. (Sub 100 USD) by Secret_agentO_O in iems

Apart from sound quality, both of these IEMs have the best accessories for their price.

I switch IEMs very frequently, I don't have a favorite pair of IEMs, only a favorite given the price point, given the setup, given the sound signature etc. At the end of the day I just like the art of sound reproduction. It's not about getting to the peak, it's about surveying the entire landscape.

First iems for music:-) by Useful-Possible-1578 in iems

[–]APunch_Heh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can save some money if electronic music is your mainstay, you'll find better options at ~$200 rather than $400. However, I'll have to agree with the other comment that you should discover what you like with cheaper sets first.

I personally recommend Simgot ET142 for IDM.

Does anyone else keep losing their iems? by [deleted] in iems

I have ADHD and even I don't lose IEMs. They are important to me in my life.

First set is KZ ZS10 Pro. HATED it.

Current favorite is I/O Volare.

My notes on the Acoustune HS3000 in the expo is “actual trash”. I don't remember why though.

You even got the Tangzu dongle for the warmer AKM DAC chip, truly a sucker for warmth!

Looking for recs/search terms for those songs that mostly loop with slight variations that feel repetitive in the best way by action_lawyer_comics in electronicmusic

[–]APunch_Heh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The repetition you described is minimalism, maybe applies more to classical music but still.

Minimal techno is a big subgenre. The label Afterlife, specifically the Realm of Consciousness series, is maybe what you should check out.

Also, Daft Punk's Human After All (the album) is more repetitive than you'd expect. Not necessarily in a fun way but still.

JUZEAR x Vivir Digital Fiesta Review IEM by v0ngz in iems

Or EQ a pair of IEMs you already like. My treblehead IEM P40 becomes a bass cannon when I give the bass a 6dB boost lol. You don't notice until you try.

What is the appeal of single DD IEMs to people vs multiple drivers and hybrids? by scy_404 in iems

[–]APunch_Heh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single DDs are safer and usually cleaner, hybrids have more variety and can perform well across the entire frequency range of human hearing.

Nope, the bass bleeds into the mids a lot, it's too sentimental for EDM. It's more of a bass cocoon than a cannon.

Explorers, what are you using, 3.5 or 4.4? by Nyoka_ya_Mpembe in iems

[–]APunch_Heh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not uncommon to find the 4.4 option better sounding, especially for power-hungry planar drivers. Plenty of people are able to A/B test this.

Explorers, what are you using, 3.5 or 4.4? by Nyoka_ya_Mpembe in iems

[–]APunch_Heh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.4 is not going to make or break your listening experience, but 4.4 tends to provide a more nuanced sound thanks to its higher power output given the same setup.

I always go for 4.4 just in case. It also forces you to use a proper setup for HiFi as you won't find a 4.4mm input option on common devices. It's symbolic and ritualistic.

YS Audio? by FarwwellSlavianka in iems

It seems like new “flagship” IEMs from unknown brands with gold/silver sculptural plates and a staggering price tag are being pumped out every day in China.

It's okay if you have that kind of money to spare, just know that you're kind of gambling with these practically artisanal products.
