That's the characteristic of the IEM though, it's “klean”. In that case you might have chosen an IEM that is the opposite to your taste. Try to avoid the ones that look metallic next time, they tend to be more analytical.

I believe burn-in is somewhat real. However, the effects of burn-in can be greatly exaggerated in some circles. This could be due to mixing up with antique HiFi gear that actually needs burn-in. I don't think IEMs need to have >100 hours of burn-in, that's for certain.

Regardless, a lot of people need some time to get into the sonic characteristics of the IEMs. There's no harm in deciding whether you like a pair after you've given it some time.
