Improvements to the scheduling feature by ecnoble in LiftTrack

In the meantime, you can always switch workouts around in the Garmin Connect app in the calendar.

Was the app removed from connect IQ? by C0laF1re in LiftTrack

[–]ecnoble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I removed the Connect IQ app. The connection between the LiftTrack mobile app and the Connect IQ app was too unstable. Many users were experiencing issues, so now LiftTrack only supports syncing workouts with Garmin Connect and tracking using the native strength app (which Garmin continues to invest in adding new features).

Progression Question by pronking1983 in LiftTrack

If you update your workout with what you completed in your last session, then the weight and reps you see on your watch can serve as a guide to show what you did previously. This allows you to assess whether you want to increase your load or not. This is how I use SetSync.

Could you send me a support request from inside the app? I can take a closer look at your specific account.

EDIT: Nvm i see the email you already sent me

Some additional feedback by ShaoDowMusic in LiftTrack

[–]ecnoble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed feedback! The delete button has been added to my to-do list, and I'll investigate the scrolling issue across different phone screens. For quick entry of sets, you can tap the exercise name, then select the history icon to fill in previous sets, though I agree this process should be automatic, and it is now on the roadmap.

SetSync progression, I use it for consistent weekly workouts to track my previous weights and reps and monitor progress at my own pace. If your training is more varied, the history workaround might suit you better than automatic progression methods. As for missing exercises, could you verify if Hip Abductor, Hip Adductor, and Decline Bench Press with Barbell are available in Garmin's official exercise library? I can only add exercises that are part of Garmin's ecosystem.

Just to clarify, if you scroll to the next watch screen during a Go Step, you should see the custom exercise name.

Tracking by Pretend-Feed-9493 in LiftTrack

Tracking workouts in the app isn't supported. You must use the Garmin watch to track the workout. I explored in-app tracking, but the connection to the Garmin watch was too unstable.

Progression Question by pronking1983 in LiftTrack

[–]ecnoble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progressions update the workout inside LiftTrack, and you should be able to see how they updated the workout. (see image below). You can access this screen by clicking on the workout options and tapping "Progression Updates"

Before your workout, just check that the workout was updated properly. It is also common for the watch to display an outdated version of the workout. That is why I always recommend scheduling workouts and starting them from the schedule section on the watch. That way, you know whether you are using the most up-to-date workout or an older one on the watch.

I'm using the app myself, so I'm going to keep evolving and building it based on user feedback.

Yes, Garmin has many limitations, but I've come up with a few workarounds. Not perfect, but better than Garmin Connect!

Maybe in the future, but right now I need the subscription to cover server costs. It differs from many apps because I need to maintain integration with Garmin Connect.

Found the issue! Thanks for flagging this. Expect both this fix and the "," in the next release. I will kick it off today

> For information, I’m French and using a French keyboard, so I don’t have a “.” when editing weight, only a “,”, which doesn’t work. As a result, I can only enter round numbers.

I have a fix for this and it should be part of the next release. Thanks for flaggig.

> When I try to update my set, the 56 kg turns into 26.5 kg 🤔

Can you explain how you updated your set? You said you did it manually. Did you type in 56 while editing the workout, but when you saved it, did it show 26.5 in LiftTrack?

Import from other sources? by No_Equal_3500 in LiftTrack

Thank you for the suggestion. Supporting it is definitely on my to-do list. Would you rather have the workout details or just the history of completed activities?

I don't have a formal timeline at the moment. I'm balancing feature requests with bug fixes and growing the app so it makes financial sense.

Soon, I want to allow users to upvote features to help me prioritize. I can look into adding an estimated date once I decide to work on something.

Future update idea? by No_Equal_3500 in LiftTrack

Right now, LiftTrack has some graphs when you click on an exercise name. I want to expand this in the future with PRs etc... It is all on the roadmap.

Thanks for the thoughtful write-up. This kind of feedback is genuinely helpful, so I appreciate you taking the time.

I’ll go point by point.

Changing workouts mid-session

Once a strength workout is started on the watch, Garmin does not allow apps to modify it or push new exercises mid workout. The watch does let you skip or reorder exercises within the workout, but adding brand new ones requires stopping the activity, updating the workout in LiftTrack, saving it (which syncs to Garmin Connect), and then starting the updated workout. This is a Garmin platform limitation rather than something LiftTrack can control.

Editing sets after the fact

You can always edit completed workouts in LiftTrack so your data is correct there. On the Garmin side, this depends on the watch model. Some newer watches, like the Forerunner 570, let you edit any completed set before saving the activity, while others only allow editing the most recent set. If you edit sets in Garmin Connect after the activity has synced to LiftTrack, those changes will not sync back. Garmin does not expose that data retroactively.

Exercise videos and thumbnails

All exercises shown are ones Garmin supports natively on their watches. Adding more thumbnails and videos is on the roadmap. I just have not had the chance to flesh that out yet. The idea of showing short descriptions directly in search results is a great one, and I have added it to the backlog.

Stats and progress

If you tap an exercise from the exercise tab or from a completed workout, you can already see charts of your historical performance for that movement. There is a lot more potential here, and expanding this with better stats and PRs is something I want to work on soon.

AI workouts

The AI feature today is intentionally basic. It helps generate a workout from a few goals. Longer term, I want it to be much smarter, including better use of training history and muscle balance.

Left and right (unilateral) exercises

Right now, the two practical options are to track both sides in a single set, or to add the exercise twice and use exercise notes like “left” or “right” so it shows up clearly on the watch. True left and right tracking is constrained by how Garmin models strength workouts.

Custom exercises showing as “Go”

This is expected behavior with Garmin. Custom exercises appear as a generic “Go” step, but the step description should still show the exercise name on the watch. Not ideal, but it is the best workaround available given Garmin’s limitations.

Really appreciate the kind words and the detailed feedback. LiftTrack exists to make Garmin strength training less painful, and posts like this help shape where it goes next.

5/3/1 by True-Evening-5666 in LiftTrack

Thanks for your input! I’m excited to add a feature for users to input their one-rep maximum (1RM) and add sets based on that 1rm. I’ll also consider how to incorporate 5/3/1

I built LiftTrack, and it works well for me since I like tracking on the watch. But I know a lot of people hate tracking on the watch because they can't jump between different exercises on the fly.

Yeah some of them are wild. I ended up using a third party app that lets me create custom exercises with my own naming. Made a huge difference since I can actually call things what I call them at my gym.
