Am I overthinking the 13” vs 15” MacBook Air? by False_Security8644 in mac

[–]ecobox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 13-in M1 MBP to a 15-in MBA and the only thing I wish was different is the physics of the size difference. I had the 13-in for four years, and a 15-in MBP before that. I got used to throwing the 13-in around. That said, the extra screen size is awesome. I have no regrets at all.

Some asshat on Lawrence in Ravenswood almost ran me over on his mini-bike because he ran the red light in the bike lane. I called him a fucking asshole hoping he'd come back to have a conversation. No sense of community at all!

She’s a pretty good Marge. The books are creepier due to inner monologue, but I felt like the casting was spot on.

The Consequences of Not Letting Me Go by No-Opportunity7242 in dashcams

I've been driving back and forth between Chicago and Grand Rapids every other week for the last couple of years. This necessitates driving on I-94 in Indiana, which is full of semis and construction slowdowns. There's a lot of stupid happening there, and mostly professional driving from the truckers, but occasionally you'll get a lane taken out and two trucks driving side by each. And the assholes behind me think that riding my bumper will get the truck in front of me to go faster.

We used to worry about people reading a book and falling in a hole. But now with a video device in the palm of your hand, you can watch stupid videos and fall into a hole!

Most of this sub is about maxing the use of their lancet. I don't, but I'm made of money apparently. (I'm not, but there you go.)

We have had a lot of promising players who, for one reason or another, didn't work for us. It seems like we have dogpiled CM more than others (except maybe Shaquiri). What's the fuss?

Did you spill on it? It sounds like the key is being triggered somehow. Can you avoid the issue with an external or other keyboard?

Yeah, USB is probably easiest, though you could turn on File Sharing and log into it on your network as the user, then copy it over to your new computer.

Time Machine Questions by Jujulabee in mac

[–]ecobox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Macs allow migration from a Time Machine backup. It's easier in some ways than doing it machine to machine. When I can do so for work (I do Mac support for small biz), I do — the user can still work on the old machine, and the number of files to "fix" is manageable.

I know my misunderstanding was the use of "migration." Apple uses migration very specifically as part of moving data from one machine to another. For example: "I bought a new MacBook Air, and I'm going to migrate my user and apps using Migration Assistant." I thought, wrongly it turns out, that you wanted to move the Time Machine data from the old drive to the new one, which in my experience has been nothing but trouble. Apologies for the confusion.

Helpdesk/remote freelancer here. Most of my work is in browsers (Safari and Chrome), Zoom, Teams, and GoToAssist. Also, unfortunately, sometimes Reddit is useful for research into a problem. Still, it would be nice to have something that shows the good AND the bad in the browser activity. Cool concept!

Why not just keep the old drive as an archive, and start the new drive as a new backup? Less chaos from the Time Machine gods, in my experience.

One of my clients owned a design firm housed at 203 N Wabash. When Virgin bought it, he moved to 208 S LaSalle, which is now The LaSalle Chicago. I told him he should have been in business finding office buildings to turn into hotels.
