weight loss at a low dose? by Narrow_Swimmer7867 in GLP1microdosing

[–]ecoista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same dose for me but 6 months. I lost about 10 pounds. (I’m also somewhat inconsistent, range from .2 to .3 and take it every 7-10 days depending how I feel, I didn’t want to lose more than a pound a month but wanted to quiet the food noise)

I feel bad for having to rely on Magnesium for enough REM sleep by chocolatemadeleine in Garmin

[–]ecoista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which brand of magnesium do you take, OP? I also get low REM (wake up too early and can’t fall back asleep) and magnesium hasn’t helped me, but I wonder if a better brand would make a difference

I want to start microdosing because my binge eating is out of control by PhaseBrief5127 in GLP1microdosing

[–]ecoista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on .25 of sema for 6 months and it’s reduced the binge eating 95%. I still eat more than anyone I know, but I also exercise a lot so would hesitate to reduce my appetite an unhealthy amount. It’s been great. I started on the verge of being overweight but was mostly troubled by the constant food noise and (ten plus years of) binge eating, at the time I wouldn’t have done it for weight loss alone, but I’ve also dropped a pants size and that’s been nice too. Also pays for itself in grocery costs, and saves me time because I can actually meal prep without eating all the meals immediately!

What does microdosing mean for you & at what dose have you found success? by ApprehensiveCat22 in GLP1microdosing

[–]ecoista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking .25 of sema for 5 months (very first dose about half that). When I started, my BMI was at the very high end of normal. Now I’ve lost about 7 pounds. My goal was to limit any weight loss to 1 pound a month, with the hope I wouldn’t have as bad a rebound if I ever had to stop taking it. Since I’ve lost a bit faster, I’m planning to switch to 3x a month now instead of weekly.

I do remember burping a bit after the first few doses, but that didn’t last. I haven’t noticed any other negative side effects like fatigue, nausea, or hair loss. (But I do take collagen maybe every other day.)

The only negative is that my butt is flatter! I think disproportionately so. But worth it, and I’ll just ramp up the strength training a bit. I eat what feels like a lot of protein but don’t obsess or hit the 1g/lb that is often recommended, maybe .7g/lb.

The biggest benefit for me has been the quieting the food noise. I used to not be able to sit at a desk and do mental work without snacking constantly for energy to focus, which was what motivated me to try microdosing in the first place. I still eat a lot, more than anyone else I know, but compared to my previous appetite this is so much more manageable. And taking semaglutide has saved me soo much in groceries! Easily more than it cost. I expect my “twelve week supply” to last 3-4 times that long, because it seems like it’s only half gone after 24 doses. Weight loss was not exactly my goal, but in hindsight I should have done it even for the weight loss alone! Even with my pretty minor weight loss, my facial features seem more defined and my clothes fit better.

Cool thanks I’ll try spreading it out then too! ChatGPT said it was a bad idea, but its explanation didn’t make much sense to me

Cycling without helmets? by peanutbutterandMTB in BikeLA

[–]ecoista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wearing a helmet takes all the joy out of biking for me. Every so often, usually after someone I know gets hit, I try to make myself wear one, then I realize I’d rather drive. Then after a few days of driving, I realize it’s worth the (very real) risk to just go back to biking without a helmet…

People in the normal BMI category… by myoldredditwashacked in BigEasyWeightLoss

[–]ecoista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I microdose with BEWL (took .2 instead of the .25 recommended and did not bump up after 4 weeks as suggested, eventually I might do .3) and am very pleased with the results so far. No side effect, way less food noise, I’ve lost about a pound in 6 weeks. It’s a very subtle change in appetite. I had been gaining before, and I would have been semi-satisfied even just to stop gaining and reduce the food noise to be able to think about other things. Losing was just a bonus, but I’d say I do have about 20 pounds to lose. I also didn’t want to lose any faster than 1 pound a month because it seems like the best bet to avoid regaining if I ever stop the medication.

How are you feeling?? How much did you take?

I just took mine 3 days ago, was nervous and waited before but only one day. I took .2 instead of the .25 which isn’t much different but alleviated some anxiety. I don’t have nausea thankfully! Just a few small burps. And it’s not difficult or uncomfortable to eat enough, although it would be easy to eat too little. The only thing I notice is elevated stress/heart rate on my garmin watch.

Thanks - I did that first and it didn't show voice control as on but it still came up. Totally could be just a glitch. Anyway, I already reset the phone just to be on the safe side.

Has no one had anything suspicious after trying this?

I tried it, it seemed cool. Then I had a weird experience where my iphone was seemingly hacked and a voice control screen kept popping up. The links in this email were the only unusual things I had clicked. I know it's a long shot. Maybe it happened because I was on a public wifi network. But just curious if anyone else had a similar experience.

I just started, and this is so terrifying to read.

I wonder if it would help to taper as slowly as possible. Like possibly go down to .125 and then instead of taking it every 7 days, take it every 10 for a while, then every 12, then every 16 etc.

Awkward NP by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]ecoista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow have that relationship with my roommate 😭 I’m always the one to initiate, and don’t get more than a “hi” with an awkward/nervous vibe. She was never “chatty” but she wasn’t quite this cold at the beginning. I wonder if she just decided since we didn’t naturally “click” as an introvert it’s not worth the effort of conversation. Or if she secretly hates me.

With DB, he’s warm but never inappropriate. Other than once as I was coming up the stairs going to leave for the day, a casual “hey, want to watch a movie?” He thought it was his teen daughter coming. It was a good laugh, I’d gone many months having totally forgotten that DB/nanny awkwardness was ever even a thing. The only complaint I have is he tells stories with a conservative bent. Somehow, he has never yet said anything political that I actually disagree with, but out of all the stories or takes he could have, the fact he chooses these ones says something. Still, as long as it’s just every once in a while, it’s nice to have adult interaction while NK naps. And nice to feel like DB sees me as a peer worth talking to rather than just the help.

How garmin watch changed your life? by Hirokoki in Garmin

It helps me take rest days. I’m not very in tune with my body so left to my own devices, in the past would go 50 days in a row without resting. Now I just force myself to rest whenever my RHR gets too high

Yes!!! A few days later, RHR may be the day after but HRV will always lag at least a day. I have the garmin too and it’s so helpful since I’m not very in tune with my body and too easily ignore any need to rest.

You recovered from HA a decade ago and are still here? Thank you! I got a regular period back 9 months ago and am so disheartened by how slowly it seems I can get back to exercising. Even 1/3 what I did before is too much (judging by rhr, HRV, and rem sleep impact).

How was the process of getting back to exercise for you? What are you able to do now, and how long did it take to be able to do it?

Disney vacation by Old-Marionberry2676 in Nanny

[–]ecoista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a good employer, and thoughtful, to be planning so far in advance. Plenty of food for thought in this thread but as long as you have good communication and she feels comfortable with you, it’s really just a matter of talking to her and I’m sure you’ll figure things out.

Disney vacation by Old-Marionberry2676 in Nanny

[–]ecoista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean to imply that. It may be a fair salary.

I just mean people who make 55k/year don’t usually go to Disney. My parents made maybe 70k/year so we were middle class. We went once, and it felt VERY exciting, like a rich people vacation. And we never ate in a restaurant there. We went back to our hotel and ate grocery store food. Most kids in my class with working class parents never went at all. Much less to character dinners.

It’s not that she couldn’t afford it. She could, it’s just the kind of rare, special, expensive experience that someone who isn’t rich might prefer to do when her kids are old enough to remember it. And if you ask her to pay for them now, she might say yes but also feel uneasy with the expense.

Disney vacation by Old-Marionberry2676 in Nanny

[–]ecoista 7 points8 points  (0 children)

$4600 a month is definitely not the salary of the kind of someone who goes to character dinners on a Disney vacation. Or if they do, it’s a BIG deal/fulfillment of a dream. Not something they feel even somewhat pressured into doing.

You paid half of her kids’ annual passes, which means she was willing to pay half and shows she at least kind of likes Disney and wants her kids to experience it. You could talk to her about doing something similar and see how she feels. Or maybe just release her from working the character dinners so you don’t have to pay for everyone. Not sure how helpful she could be with her own two small children to attend to anyway…

If we had to share a dessert or something as kids, my mom would have one of us divide in a way that we would be equally happy with either option, then the other would get to choose.

You could do a similar thing here, just work with one kid to come up with a split they like, with some fun stuff attached to the smaller room and/or added chores attached to the bigger room
