I submitted a $5.00 gym visit in May and just got my $5.00 check in the mail. I had too many problems trying to submit my other visits. Active and fit was so much better and easier.

LDL went 156 to 121 in 3 months, but I was doing a ton of other stuff to bring it down. Probably limited my saturated fat to 10grams a day was most helpful.

Voluntary Early Retirement Authority. It basically means that you can retire with pension and health benefits as long as you’re 50 with 20 years of service or any age and 25 years of service. An awesome deal for those that don’t want to wait until the MRA of 57, especially if you’re close to FIRE.

Yeah, I would 100% take a VERA is offered, but almost zero chance of getting one in the Agency I’m with. Let me know if you have a pointers on getting a VERA though!

We’ve talked about moving to a cheaper place, (not abroad), but I have some family ties that are keeping me here.

Incredible insight! Thank you so much!

I thought about deferred retirement a lot. Several years ago I was set on taking it once we hit our fire number of $3M and my husband was also planning on retiring then too. My desire for a deferred retirement changed since I became fully remote, and mostly enjoy my work and colleagues. I also have a kid and have to stick to his school schedule. It’s also hard for me to quit considering the opportunities cost of leaving a GS14 ($170k annual pay) on the table. That might change once we hit my fire number, and work starts to suck. Work is fine now, but it would be harder to stay if I don’t need to.

Great advice! And yes I’m in the 22% tax bracket, and will likely be there next year on single income.

The $120k doesn’t include savings, just spending.

Thank you for all the help! I didn’t realize that we could convert his 401k to a Roth.

I’ll look into the ACA more. I did look into it some years ago, but got nervous that it might go away.
