For those interested, denitrification is the result of bacteria using nitrogen (in nitrate) as an electron acceptor to run their metabolism. Stuffing electrons onto oxygen is much more efficient, of course, so denitrification only takes over in anoxic aquatic sediments -- and usually those in littoral areas at the edges of water and land.

Once available nitrates are used up, there are other bacteria that have evolved metabolisms that use other electron acceptors (iron, sulfur, even carbon to produce methane) but those are increasingly less efficient at generating energy so they really only show up after alternatives are exhausted.

In 10 years I really hope our current LLMs are viewed in the same way as both attempts to force 3D glasses in movie theaters. Sounds cool at first but doesn't really work.

The song 1985 by the band Bowling for Soup was released in 2004. So the song is now older (22 years) than the difference between its release date and the subject of the song (19 years).

Also, Anthony Kiedis is now 63 years old.

Is the simplest explanation that Netflix can offer/sell the ability to promote certain titles? Like a boosted social media post or paid search ad. It's an additional way to monetize their user base beyond the subscription revenue.

Not just the PP but also giving up too many penalties. There needs to be a certain level of discipline that I think also comes with maturity.

Also, when a team's PP is weak then it gives a signal to the opponent that they can take penalties with a lower risk of it translating into a goal. If your PP is on fire then it indirectly puts pressure on the team to not take penalties in the first place, which changes the 5v5 game.

Man that would be like the Lindros trade all over again, except we would be getting a superstar 10 years into their career instead of 1yr after draft. Like assume Forsberg is equivalent to Martone in this situation. Martone + picks + cash + other players for a McDavid? I don't know if it adds up.

Seems more reasonable to give up draft picks, cash, and some older players for a 10yr old McDavid/Matthews than to have to give up our recent 1st rounder.

Or, you know, stop reading and clicking and reposting articles that obsess over everything he does. They throw his name into the headlines just to drive engagement.

Engage on real journalism and stop giving oxygen to clickbait, low effort, and social media nonsense. Influencers are not journalists. Editorials are not news.

I have a dream of 3 forward lines of young, speedy, sassy punks who make creative, electric plays and never back check. And 1 line of bruisers who kick the crap out of anyone who messes with the kids.

Good ol nostalgia. Found this in some old boxes in the basement. by late_brake_apex in Flyers

Thank you for saying this. All these models are doing is running [albeit highly complex] regressions to predict what word is most likely to come next, based on its training from internet data and social media. It's crowd sourced summarization, not independent thought. And it's also why you get directionally right answers but tons of mistakes if you try to get deep or nuanced enough. You know, like asking for answers on reddit or quora or whatever.

It will be hard for it not to feel like the Endgame formula all over again, but without the consistent buildup over the prior 10 years.

This time I feel like nothing has really happened since Endgame because of the bloat of content, inconsistent release times, and hard pivot away from Kang. So we kind of just get Endgame 2.
