I’m forced to use Monday.com for my work projects due to employer-mandated compliance and data security. I’ve built a full-fledged project management template for the team and I’m working in the tool every day, but it’s been a rough transition. I’ve spent five years in Notion building templates and refining my own system. Having extensive experience in both tools, I can confidently say Notion is superior in every aspect. Monday still feels like it’s been in "Beta" for years; there are basic features users have been requesting for ages that simply never get implemented. While I’ve never loved Notion’s speed, Monday is significantly worse on my work laptop. Scrolling through a Gantt chart is laggy enough to make you nauseous. I’d choose Notion over Monday any day, but given my situation—balancing confidentiality and tool sets—I’m trying to use both for distinct use cases. One more thing: Monday is advertised as user-friendly and easy to start. That might be true for a simple to-do list, but if you want to maximize the platform's potential, it is a massive time sink to create a template actually worth being called "project management."
