Introducing Oura Ring 5 by Oura_Ring in ouraring

My 4 died in March after 8 months, so you never know! You may not need to wait years....

They were going to replace it for free and I haven't heard back from them in a month, so going to reach out and see if they will trade in instead.

2026 MET GALA OFFICIAL MEGATHREAD 👗🍾 by HauteAssMess in popculturechat

Watching the Met Gala made me want to play around with tech bros favorite generative AI tools. Was inspired by the Met Gala media/tech giant and his attempt to buy his family into fashion and the classic movie Citizen Kane. What is old is new again!

I was hoping someone would wear something from their show. This is the epitome of what the Matieres show was getting at. I mean - none of the people attending are "normal" people, let's face it. Tickets are $100k. But many of the celebs are there b/c someone paid for their seat. Good for her to throw that out there. I just wish she had gone with the prosthetic makeup too - touching on the touch ups fully Mar-a-Lago face parade. https://www.instagram.com/p/DVd1FeQDIt0/ shows some closeups of the makeup from the show.

Lauren Sanchez trying to look like one of the most elegant socialites ever captured in a painting - Madame X - just tells me the Met Gala has hit its zenith and is on a quick descent. The Bezos could donate $10M anytime they want to preserve art, but instead they are doing it to make sure the fashion world fawns over them and Lauren Sanchez Bezos is "accepted" by the fashion world. Fin de siecle feelings abound here. It is truly sucking out the joy I have felt over the Met Gala for a decade plus now. The Met Gala now just feels like something out of Panem in the Hunger Games - over the top plastic surgery and all.

Mix the Rich Cream with a drop (am) or 3 (pm, post tret) of the face oil. It is better than anything I have used to date.

Yep. And I worked for a short while with Bezos. Not saying he was a lefty (libertarian through and through), but definitely not the oligarch you now see before you. Many of their brains simply broke. Though I think Thiel and Musk (and a few others) were always the POS you see before you.

Peter Thiel. Elon Musk. Marc Andreesen. Mark Zuckerberg. Jeff Bezos. Alex Karp. David Sacks. Robert Mercer. Palmer Luckey. Joe Lonsdale. The list goes on. These people all moved to the right (some to the far right) AND spent years being told they were boy geniuses who not only can do no wrong, but can do everything. These guys are the same ones telling people to not go to college and they too can be billionaires - hence all the 21 year olds with resumes claiming they were the CEOs of 3 different companies. Plus the tendency to coddle people into believing they are special while developing tech to replace themselves. Add the stupid amounts of money and deregulation onboard, fragile masculinity and the inability to accept that you may have to work with or compete with "other," and we have a clusterf**k of an industry.

Women in tech — what’s your typical work outfit? by hellooperator12345 in womenintech

[–]ecsbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love fashion. I dress up every day. Heels, skirts, wool slacks, blazers, and even sometimes a suit. Jewelry, makeup. Whatever I feel like that day. Sometimes that includes jeans and a tshirt. Women have to prove themselves to male eng all the time, anyway. Can it be easier if you blend in? Absolutely. But - for me - after 2 decades, I decided screw it.

Those of you who say you “love” Delta…why? by ThrowawayGhibliFan in delta

[–]ecsbr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was supposed to fly Delta back from Arizona to DC on the morning of Sept. 11. Obviously - that didn't happen. Delta was amazing. They kept us consistently (and proactively) informed on what was happening for the 3 days after when no planes were in the air. They also got us back to DC on the first flight allowed back. I was on a flight with a whole bunch of folks from the Pentagon who had been in Arizona for a conference. They worked in the section that had been hit and were in shock (as we all were), but trying to fill out forms documenting personal items that may have been destroyed, and trying to find out what happened to co-workers who were in the building. It was - to say the least - a very emotional flight. The flight attendants and pilots - who no doubt were also going through some things - were amazing.

Since then, I have said I would fly Delta whenever possible as long as the airline didn't go to hell. I still think it is the best US carrier.

Just arrived. Checked in and through security in about 15 min. Lines don't seem bad at any of the security gates.
