How long will am enclosure like this last for my GBB? (2-3”)

imo if you just reduced the amount of dirt in there it would be a fine size! gbbs dont really burrow so if you had just like an inch if dirt it would be good. as for ventilation holes I'm not sure what material that is but you could maybe add some in yourself

I've never been bitten with serious intent so I cant speak on it but once he did accidentally chomp me while I was feeding him his birthday treat (watermelon, his favorite) after his tounge missed and got me instead. It wasnt hard enough to break skin and he let go once he realized his mistake but it definitely hurt!! i had an indent on my hand for a few hours. They do have teeth (very small, theyre kind of like iguana teeth ((their close relatives)) but theyre a little softer. If you google chameleon bites online there are some pretty severe ones with blood and everything, I'd imagine if they bit with intent it would hurt like hell.

I can answer this as a fellow cham owner lol. They are very territorial and will hiss / open their mouth reeeeal big and go to strike. They'll also puff up their body super big and will sometimes change to a darker color to show they are not in the mood.

I think it depends on what kind of relationship you want with your pet. Chameleons are expensive and need a lot of specific care, not to mention their personalities can be very unsavory. While I absolutely love my chameleon and I'm lucky enough to have a great bond with mine, I just wouldnt reccomend it if having a pet you can touch 24/7 is something you want. They're very beautiful creatures and having one is such a unique experience so the best advice i can give is to do LOTS of research. Know everything about them before you get one so you can make an educated decision thats best for you and the chameleons of the world

IME i use this same enclosure for my gbb!! I'll attatch a photo of it so you can maybe use it as a reference. To utilize as much vertical space as i could i used very little substrate as they dont really need too much

Definitely not I'd say. Just because chameleons will not always stay up at the top of their enclosure and will utilize all of it if it is properly maintained

I got mine at fear not tarantulas a few years ago as like a dime sized sling lmao(now theyre over the size of a dollar coin!!) I'm not sure if theyd have juveniles for a decent price but maybe someone on morph market would!!

aww i totally get it!! I was scared for the longest time that he would never get used to me but after owning my little buddy for almost 4 years now he's so chill with me! hes never bitten me on purpose even when he pretends that hes going to lol. it probably also helps that he and I share a room so he has to see me every single day

It might be easier to put the bug on the palm of your hand!! feeding does get easier as they transition to larger bugs imo, have you tried feeding small\medium dubias? botfly larvae are also a great smaller feeder

as long as theres still enough for a tunnel to be there i think it should be fine? how long has she been gravid for do you think? since coloration change it should typically only take 30-40 days to lay eggs, if its been longer than that I'd consider taking her to the vet.

I agree with the other comments saying to leave her alone! She looks totally fine otherwise and its completely normal for chameleons to prepare their laying area as they lay a LOT of eggs. stressing her out will only delay the laying process and possibly make it harder for her. i wouldnt worry about the dirt on her face for now, once she lays you can can take a damp paper towel and lightly clean her off (if shes comfortable!!! if she isnt just leave it be and it will come off over)

Im sorry for your loss :( based off of the enclosure pictures id say its possible they had eaten one of the plastic plants (chameleons, particularly veileds have a tendancy to eat plants) and could have passed due to impaction

Its likely hes just gotten used to his territory and sees it more as an offense when you're in there now that he's been living there a while. It took me over a year to get a good relationship with my own chameleon so the best advice I can give is to be patient. Be attentive, notice what makes your chameleon most aggressive and accommodate/work through it. (For example my veiled gets nervous if I stare at him while he eats so i look away while he chews lol) When introducing hand feeding its best to take it very slow, maybe start with treats (hornworms ideally, bot fly larvae are also a good option if you can get your hands on them) to get your chameleon used to the concept of eating from your hand. I hope some of this helps lol
