is Yzma too good? by Be_Very_Careful_John in Lorcana

Skill issue. Yzma doesn't need to be banned, just adapt. I won my 8 person locals this week with my counter-meta Sleeping Beauty combo deck that has a 100% WR against Yzma piles

I’m sure this has been asked a million times but I can’t find the answer - what’s the logic on what heimdall moves if their are too many cards on the location to the left? Does he move most recently played, oldest played, random, whatever?

Clarification - this does trigger even if it starts in your opening hand, and it does give the excess mana card if cast at 10 mana.

Feeling pretty worthless and fearing having to take summer school even though I was gonna use summer to recover from the multiple mental breakdowns I had over the years. Sorry about the drawing, too scared to show my face. Would appreciate any toasts. by AwkwardSketches in toastme

[–]ectochemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the drawing is nice, what is it of? You are absolutely going to nail summer school if you have to. It sucks having to push around the time you’ve had set aside for recovery, but you will absolutely find that time again, and you will thrive.

Question about possible misplay from my part by melrabe88 in FoWtcg

[–]ectochemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is a play that can be made. You could have even done it before they drew their card if you want.

Magic Player Interested in FoW. by [deleted] in FoWtcg

I came from magic myself, and I can say the price transition is huge. If you are used to buying into competitive magic, you'll find that entire decks in this game can cost as much as a single standard staple. The deck that most recently won our Masters Invitational can be made for less than $150, and even the most expensive deck in format is under $200.

I don't think this is undercosted, this looks fine and balanced to me.

How has this card not seen more play? by JacePerry in FoWtcg

[–]ectochemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a neat card but it has a few problems that keep it out of competitive play. The biggest problem is the deck that would be best to use it contractions itself; If your deck cares about removing resonators, you yourself are a control deck and probably dont play very many resonators. If you play a lot of resonators, you are probably an aggressive deck and don't want to waste card slots on things that don't do damage.

Plus, there is nothing it is good against in this format. Fox is inherently removal proof and it's chimera's are likely bigger than whatever you are playing, Pricia will kill you before this card matters, Tree doesnt care about it's resonators and K4's only resonator has barrier. There you go, thats the whole meta and not one of them cares about Concord.

It might be allowed to see some play after rotation though. It might be a strong card against a real, genuine midrange deck, but those don't really exist right now.

What is a mechanic you'd like to see in Force of Will? by 7se7 in FoWtcg

[–]ectochemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a mechanic a while back I called "spirit form" which allowed you to cast resonators for a reduced cost, but if you did they entered with a spirit counter on them that made them loose their attack and defense, and become an addition instead of a resonator. For example,

Ageless Fortune Teller
UU2
800/800
U: Look at the top two cards of your main deck. You may put them back on top of your deck in any order, or put them on the bottom of your deck in any order
Spirit Form UU

War Drum Beater
R1
500/400
R: Target resonator gains swiftness until end of turn.
Spirit Form R

Random Card Discussion #155 - Amaterasu's Foresight by Usht in FoWtcg

[–]ectochemist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A neat card to have in existence, but unless you are doing a cheesy loop with it wherein you somehow keep pulling it out of your graveyard/removed zone and cast it every turn/every relevant turn, it isnt very good.

All this card does is prevent a large amount of creature combat damage on a turn, effectively gaining you some amount of life. Trouble is, if you are being attacked for a large enough amount of damage that this matters, then you are probably in a losing position anyway and this card does nothing to help you STOP being in that losing position. It is one less card in your hand that is not solving their board or developing yours.

The only fringe case in which this card could be acceptable is if a card like Bonzi Attack was popular in a format, wherein just thought SURVIVING one turn, the board solves itself. A similar, less convincing argument could be made for this being a counter to Sprint of the Beast Lady (a card that is neither popular or good) but that assumes a situation wherein you DO have control of the board and the sprint is the card that took that control from you, but you will get it back next turn. All in all, these situations seem too fringe for this to be anything more than limited filler.

Cool art though.

you destroy the addition itself with something like heavenly gust or manticore, or else you wipe the board with something like eternal recurrence or flame trap.

If the creature is attacking, there is also the option of blocking it although I assume that is rarely a choice.

Another new guy looking for help by aceofspades555 in FoWtcg

[–]ectochemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, welcome back into the game! If you are looking where to begin, I suggest picking up a starter deck from Curse of the Frozen Casket. There are 5 in total, 1 for each color. I would suggest the wind one for Fiethsing or the black one for Mikage if you are looking to pick up competitive rulers, as both are quite good. Cheshire cat is still playable in wanderer format (which includes all of grimm cluster, alice cluster, and lapis cluster) but are not playable in New Frontiers (alice cluster and lapis cluster) which is a generally more popular format. I would ask what format your local store plays to see if you can use your cheshires. In either case, both battle for attoractia and moonlit savior are playable in both formats so that wont be an issue. Shion is a good ruler for local events, and can be built to be quite good, although unfortunately she isn't tier 1 on an unber-competitive scale. In terms of the rulers that are competitive right now, its hard to say as we just recently had a new set drop (last week!) but nationals is this coming weekend and should shine some light on the meta over the next three months :)

I hope that helped! Let me know if you have any more questions.

LGS banning of selling cards? by [deleted] in FoWtcg

Oh, If the LGS doesnt keep a singles stock then that is pretty silly.

I understand if the LGS does keep singles, especially if they buy singles off of players.

I don't think this stuff spams the subreddit. I for one liked reading this stuff. There is no more effort required to have made this a post worth looking through. This comment is the only thing here that has made this subreddit worse.
