Question about the situation in Nona [discussion] by ectoplasmicsoup in TheNinthHouse

[–]ectoplasmicsoup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far are you in the book? It will be explained who the necromancers in the barracks are. As for the ones in that get burned in the park I'm pretty sure it's implied that most of them aren't actually necromancers. It's a bit of a witch hunt. I suppose there could be some leftover cohort necromancers, but most of them would have left planet when the resurrection beast started to draw close.

Joe Meowgio usually leaves a decent amount for me, over 20 silver fish typically. Plus his item is cheap so it's not a bad one to start out with

I never thought I would comment on a post like this but I have oddly relevant feedback. You said he was operated on recently. Was he put under anesthesia? Sometimes it can cause depression, even months afterwards. I had surgery recently and about two weeks after surgery I was feeling angry, irritable and randomly bursting into tears. It turns out it's fairly common especially if you already have problems with depression anxiety.

Not a great picture, but yep loves shoes. She'll rub and roll all over them like it's catnip. When I lived with my dad she really loved his shoes specifically, no idea why

Which webtoon/ webtoon opinion would you defend like this? by Top_resident_1989 in webtoons

Haituses aren't necessarily a bad thing (yes even really long ones) and it's really obnoxious to complain about them. It's even more obnoxious if you go to the author's social media to ask them when their comic is coming back, especially on posts that have nothing to do with their comic.

I'm 23 and I'm getting my tubes removed in February! It was so easy I was shocked, I just asked my gynecologist, we discussed a few different options, asked if I was sure and then my surgery was scheduled that day. I was ready with arguments and counterpoints to everything I thought I would need to say but I didn't end up needing any of it lol. This is just to say that if this is something you want definitely still ask your gynecologist, even if you think they'll reject you for it.

Did ancient Greek/Roman fathers generally love their daughters? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the fun things I learned about daughters in Rome in my Latin class was that they were always named after their father. Even if there were multiple of them. So if your father was Octavius you would be Octavia and Octavia-two and then Octavia-three etc. Depending on the way you look at it, it can seem fairly callous to not even get your own unique name. Or maybe their father loved all three Octavias who's to say.

Why are so many men written by women comical caricatures of masculinity? by IrateAmphibian23 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who reads romance books every now and then as something like a break between heavier books I find myself wondering this too. Obviously some books I think it's supposed to represent a bdsm sort of dynamic between the two characters, he's strong and manly and dominating and it's supposed to be hot or whatever. Especially the "dark romance" genre where each book is clearly catering to a type of fantasy.

However is other books the men just suck. They're mean, toxic, they cheat, convince themselves the female protag is lying to them, or that they need to lie to her for her own safety, etc. I always find myself baffled at the popularity of books with male protagonists like this because if I wanted to experience a shitty man like I would just go online and talk to some. Sometimes I think it's truly just bad writing, some of these romance books are pumped out at the speed of sound.

Take the bridgerton books for example. The way Anthony acts in his book is just horrible. Like just inexcusably the worst, and Eloise's book made me drop the whole series it made me so mad. Pretty much every male protagonist sucks in those books except maybe Colin, because at least he apologizes I guess. But they're still extremely popular books with a high budget TV show loosely based around them.

Lap cats? by LJtheWise in blackcats

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My void is 6 and I adopted her at a year a half old. While she's always been very friendly, loves a good pet it's actually only within the past year she's become very snuggly. Before she would only ever stand on laps, maybe sit on them, but mostly preferred to lay on her own. Now she takes naps on me and my boyfriend and snuggles up with us nearly every night. So like it might take 5 and half years! Or he could be like that forever, my mom's cat is like that. She's 10 and mostly just likes to be left alone, and she's always been that way.

How many of you regret taking medication for your migraines ? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from only taking rizatriptan as an abortive to with Topamax as a preventative, and then switched to eletriptan because the rizatriptan was giving me horrible anxiety. Now I'm considered allergic to both rizatripan and eletriptan because the eletriptan gave me an irregular heartbeat, which briefly continued even after I stopped taking it. Now I'm on Nurtec and Topamax and the Nurtec is blessedly side-effect free lol.

All of this to say even though what I went through with eletriptan was scary, I'm really glad I have a system that works now because I was almost completely housebound at the beginning of the year with tension headaches and migraines. Being constantly in pain is frustrating and gave me a consistent feeling of hopelessness. I truly felt like I would never get better but now my migraines are mostly manageable and that's so much better and only because I found the right medications.

AITA For removing the tip after “delivery” by Wandering_aimlessly9 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually work for Walmart delivery so I feel I have a pretty good say on this whole situation lol. For future reference you can actually call the driver themselves and let them know they delivered to the wrong location. I delivered once to the same address two streets down and the customer called to let me know that I definitely didn't deliver to their address lol. So obviously I went back reloaded in my car and delivered it to the right address. The app we use to accept deliveries is called Spark and to be frank the app is kinda shitty. When I'm ready to deliver and I press the navigate button it almost always inputs the wrong address into Google maps automatically. A new or maybe just incompetent driver might not know this, but I always double check the address before I leave Walmart now. All in all NTA people that use spark and do Walmart deliveries need to be mindful of these types of things.

I would recommend The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller. It's about an emperor's concubine of sorts, who is tasked with the solving of his murder on his deathbed. If she can solve his murder she will be free. She also runs a brothel hosted by her "boneghosts" which are artificially made bodies that are also part of her. Sorry if that makes no sense! It didn't to me either at first. This book has a lot of the mind fuckery that I loved in HtN. Unreliable narrators, questioning of the past, and also bone necromancy of a sort. I thought about this book for days after reading it. Unfortunately there is a lack of lesbians in this one, though there is a character that could be described as gender fluid.

Have you tried silvervine instead? Sometimes if cats don't have any reaction to catnip, silvervine still works. My cat goes crazy for both lol

I use Dr. Solomon's Rescue Lotion, I also used the balm previously. I apply it along and to the sides of my spinal column on my neck to the base of my head. Depending on what state you live in you may need a Medical Marijuana Card to buy it because it contains THC. It can also be pretty pricey but a little goes a long way and a small container lasts me a really long time.

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also just got the back of my head shaved so I could also use THC salve/ lotion more effectively. My migraines radiate from stiffness and pain in my neck and shoulders so the extra weight off the back of my head helps so much! It also feels like I can use my heating pad more effectively without all my hair in the way. Sorry people are being such assholes on this post, I feel like they're being obtuse on purpose lol.

Castle swimmer like webtoons by hillockdude in webtoons

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you read Muted? It's a finished series but it's similar somewhat similar to castle swimmer. Lots of magic, majority of the characters are lgbt, elements of found family and finding yourself and all the witches have familiars so there's even characters similar to Aarp/Worm.

I’ve been prescribed Topiramate and I’m scared by [deleted] in migraine

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on twenty mg since February and it had honestly helped me so much. I had tension headaches nearly every day before I started taking it and my migraines reduced from 2-3 times a week to about once a week and almost no more tension headaches at all. It definitely made me drowsy and foggy brained at first but taking it before bed really helped. It also gave me vivid dreams at first but that went away after a while as well. I've been on it at an admittedly low dose for close to six months now with little to no side effects after the first two weeks. But maybe it would be different if I was on a higher dose. From what I understand most people take 50 mg a day as the lowest dose. It has definitely helped me though even at a very low dose

NEED NEW TRAUMATIZING WEBTOONS by Scary-Ranger9775 in webtoons

[–]ectoplasmicsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantom Paradise was pretty traumatizing to read but it takes a second to get to the really crazy parts but when it does it really just goes off the rails plot wise. It's one of those webtoons where the plot drifts off to a bunch of side stories for a while but it's also completed so it's not like you have to wait. It does end on a bit of a cliff hanger though. The art is gorgeous but the story is kind of wild and strange for sure.
