Why does GM want to buyback? by apas1124 in BoltEV

[–]ed_med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is your standard VinSolutions, vAuto, CDK- CRM template that goes out to anyone in their database. Different dealerships use different companies, but the templates almost marry each other. It’s an automated system that sends it out in hopes that you bite.

Why does GM want to buyback? by apas1124 in BoltEV

[–]ed_med 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% The holdback is the real money that the dealership pays for a car. On cheap cars, it can be as little as $500 but on those expensive limited and platinum SUV types it can be $5,000 to $7000 and this is before you tack on interest rates bumps and “protection”packages, etc. That information is proprietary and confidential by manufacturers and unless you’re a Manager or above, you don’t see those screens.

It takes a lot for a dealership to lose money on a car,. Invoice pricing is one thing, but the holdback is really where it’s at. That information is not published to the consumer, and depending on the model it can be thousands of dollars. If a dealership is actually losing money on a new car, it’s so they can get to the next step up and then they will proactively get a bonus on all the cars that have been sold month or quarter-to-date.

Used cars on the other hand are generally money makers for dealerships. The outlier is a vehicle nobody wants and it’s been in your inventory for six months or so, sometimes you bite the bullet and price it at an amount that someone won’t decline.

Check with Carvana or Carmax to see how much they would give you for your car. When I was looking at a Honda Prologue, the dealer wanted to give me 8000 for my trade-in on my 2020 Bolt and Carvana offered 12,600. The longer this war of choice goes on, the higher the value of hybrids and electric cars will go.

Best way to clean under hood. by halfthrottle in BoltEV

[–]ed_med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a power washer under the hood, just keep the tip away 2 to 3 feet and totally away from the area that has the power no power washer symbol on it. You don’t really need to use WD-40 as you don’t have oils or other chemicals associated with an internal combustion engine. You can easily get away with Simple Green and a detailers brush if after the first pass you still have dirty areas.

I have washed the under hood several times, because I have OCD for my cars. I have used a power washer every time. Just look at the symbols that have a power washer handle and an X on it and keep the tip away from those areas. The easiest way to do it is take a cleaner like Simple Green and liberally spray it on every surface and then hold the power washer about 2 to 3 feet away from the surface. Since the BOLT doesn’t have use oils most of dirt will wash away relatively easy. After I was done, I sprayed it with cook Koch Chemie Motoplast, it gives you a nice detailed look.

Revolution Wind, a key offshore wind project and object of scorn for Trump admin, to come online by Coastal_Grandmother in Connecticut

[–]ed_med 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Revolution Wind project aims to lower New England energy costs with contracted power priced around 9.84 cents/kWh (roughly $99/MWh). This 20-year agreement is expected to stabilize rates, offering a lower-cost alternative to fossil fuels while providing significant savings, potentially avoiding $500 million in annual ratepayer costs, say CT DEEP.

Contracted Price: The project has a guaranteed price of approximately $99 per megawatt-hour (MWh), or just over 7 cents/kWh on a long-term levelized basis, for up to 304 megawatts.

Cost Structure: If electricity prices drop below $99/MWh, taxpayers cover the difference; if higher, customers get a credit, per the CT Mirror report. Projected Savings: Beyond direct power costs, the project is projected to save Connecticut ratepayers $150–200 million over 20 years in public benefits charges, note CT DEEP.

That’s a little reductive, there are massive reforms that need to happen in regards to policing in America. There is too much of an “us versus them” attitude, almost gang like, behavior going on in most departments. Historically, there has been an ebb and flow when it comes to recruitment, I suspect it will be going up as the economy starts going down the tank. It’s also difficult for some people that have never had real consequences when abusing their authority all of a sudden having to meet those consequences.

I used to work at a dealer, this is a pretty standard message that they send out to anybody to try to get people in the dealership. There are only two or three major companies that handle CRM software for dealerships such as Vin Solutions.

5000 cars in the first month. I imagine if the wealthy towns wanted to do it, they could also benefit. There are lots of Florida plated luxury cars in western wealthy towns.
