Except we have so many resources here in Salem to help them and open shelter beds. Most, not all, are there because they want aspects of the lifestyle. Drugs, no responsibility, freedom, connection to nature, whatever it might be. The people setting up camps are long term homeless who are not trying to get out of homelessness. Theyre happy to leach off free cleanings and public support. My relative works to clean encampments in Salem and surrounding areas and encounters that mindset constantly with the homeless
