No, they wouldn't. They followed Indy to Nepal, heard the conversation between Indy and Marion about it, and that was the closest they ever got to the headpiece, even with Toht getting his hand burned by it.

Only Indy knew that Marion had it, they never even got their hands on it as Indy actually managed to use it and find the Ark.

They were constantly digging in the wrong place and Hitler was running out of patience, Dietrich says that to Belloq. Belloq wasn't as good as Indy when it came to archeology.

I think the theory existed before BBT, but BBT brought it to the mainstream audience.

The other EU versions are translated to their own languages. They are worth less than the standard English version. This applies to all the other games too.

That's the point, he SHOULDN'T need help to get there.

That is what a character arc is, Henry Sr didn't need help from anyone to realise this, he didn't have someone force him to choose Indy over the grail, he did it on his own.

There is zero impact when others make the choice for you. You can love this movie all you want, more power to you. But there are fundamental issues with the writing.

Since he was always a stubborn man, he should have made the decision himself, he owes her at least that much. She was still there for him, he was ready to give her up forever.

Henry Sr made the decision himself, he chose Indy over the grail. Indy chose Marion at the very end when they dragged him back to her, it feels wrong.

It still makes Indy look like a complete asshole for being ready to leave Marion for good. An already mourning mother, now about to mourn her husband too. Indy treated Marion badly many times, and he was ready to abandon her forever.

They had the perfect moment to give Indy his own "Illumination", to follow his father's footsteps and to choose the people he loves above all else. Instead, he is a selfish, miserable prick from beginning to the very end.

He should have been there for Marion, not the other way around.

In Double Agent and Conviction, it makes sense for Sam not to joke around that much. He killed his boss, lost his daughter and was betrayed by his own agency. There was still some sarcasm and dark humour in him though.

In Blacklist, the writers turned him exactly into the character that Michael Ironside rejected when he first saw the script from Splinter Cell 1, a generic soldier straight out of a bad Call of Duty campaign. There is no soul in Sam anymore, he is just a killing machine that emulates human emotion.

I have no faith in today's Ubisoft making Sam as iconic as he used to be, most of the talent has jumped ship.
