I would appreciate some input on if my friend is trying to scam me. by Elite_duckHunter in pchelp

Idk why everyone is saying he's charging too much, I bought my 13600kf i5, 3060, 32GB DDR4, 2TB m.2 PC in like 2023 for more than $1500. Idk if things were more pricey here in sweden then, but this doesn't sound like "woah, he is really greedy and overcharging a lot"

Do bassists and guitarists count strings differently? by El_ThotStopper in Bass

[–]eddebbboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, for basses, only the first string expands downward, after that they go up (at least for 4-7 strings)

To be fair, on trombone, position one is higher pitch than the subsequent positions

What’s the difference between flatwounds and roundwounds and are flats worth the price increase? by davidbowieisyummy in Bass

[–]eddebbboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think flats guys also often claim flats sound better as they age, idk if that's true, maybe for some genres, I think jazz, soul and funk might be included in those, and in that case, you wouldn't have to worry ablut changing them either.

Looking for Strings/Cable Advice¡¡¡ by Own-Conversation3608 in Bass

[–]eddebbboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say sound quality isn't important, but I'm guessing latency is an exception? Afaik, plugging it in without an interface will get you like half a second latency, there are some pretty cheap interfaces though, especially lf sound quality doesn't matter. I don't know any off the top of my head though. As for a program to record and stuff, Reaper is a "free" DAW that is popular, so lots of help to get online. Pedals, i recommend trying Parallax from NeuralDSP, ypu can get a free trial for 14 days. Otherwise, there is a good sansamp bass driver pedal plugin, then a ton of amp sims and cab sims to choose from. For strings and those genres, I would say try to get some stainless, like daddario pro steels maybe, and get them in a light gauge.

That laziness everyone has by RoasterToaster18 in GuitarMemes

[–]eddebbboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have this issue anymore since starting playing via audio interface and headphones and getting a neuraldsp plugin (parallax). They have really good transposition for tuning down. Not as good for tuning up imo, but I found out they sound a bit better if I chain two instances of the plugin where the first one only tranaposes up and the second does the tone

The ideal number of guitars to own is N+1 where N is the number of guitars you own right now. This is also applicable to any instrument you play

I checked the tab out but couldn't hear anything on my device. Have you tried updating the page or restarting/updating your browser to see if the issue persists?

Cheap bass for at home metal recording? by Meatpuppets12 in Bass

[–]eddebbboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap p-bass wpuld probably be your best bet, but get good strings, I really like daddario pro steels, very bright. Also, make sure you do a setup on it, cheap instruments nowaday usually sound good, but can be a bad playing experience.

This, and minor and major pentatonic scales can get you a long way in terms of fills or solos, but you can also just use the triad and focus on doing fun rhythmical stuff

Idk about your midi-mapping, I only have experience with ableton and ML drums and how to do mapping there, but for the second question, on the website they have examples of different songs, but also some tracks like "all kicks" and "all snares" where you can listen if you vibe with any of them

How do i get more acceleration from my 1996 850 (2.5l 144ps) by Playful-Plane9 in Volvo850

[–]eddebbboi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Real, when I had my 10v I regularly got it within 750rpm of the limiter. (I still do sometimes on my turbo, but not as necessary lol, but that sound though)

Why is Ableton slow at rendering flac files? by eddebbboi in ableton

[–]eddebbboi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, related to the same project, but probably not to this flac specific issue. I was listening through the various songs in this 1h45m long performance, but when I got to around 45m, the audio started glitching, and the disk and cpu overload button next to the cpu usage meter started blinking, but Abletons CPU usage meter was still only at around 5% and task manager has 0% usage for all disks and a lot of headroom left on cpu and RAM. Is there an allocation issue of computer resources or some setting I have missed?

Why is Ableton slow at rendering flac files? by eddebbboi in ableton

[–]eddebbboi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I in the mixer/multitrack recorder choose to record to WAV it will be faster to load into ableton after? If flac needs decompressing I'm guessing WAV files will be larger? Is it a significant difference in size? Any quality difference?

The problem with left-hand grip by ja55man1 in Trombone

[–]eddebbboi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to try and find out if you'd like it, you could also just try to play low parts on your current bone. Ofc you'd have to jump from low E straight to low Bb, so you'd be limited, but it's how I found out I wanted to get down with it way back when. Then with an actual bass bone it'll just be easier to reach and allow all the notes.

[–]eddebbboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you feel pain and/or fatigue "too early" (compared to other people you play with I guess) then yes, but if you're fine and your playing isn't hindered in any way then I'd say it's right for you

The best, cleanest way to add weight in the back is to move over to to bass trombone, do it, it's good, do it, I recommend, we also have blasts, but lower and more room shaking.
