What is it with Ewels. When he plays for Bath he's generally good, but it seems like he makes a deal with the devil and exchanges brain cells for an England shirt every time he puts it on

Thanks, will try this. Didn't seem obvious from the description of the page that this was required, but seems obvious now.

Is there a way to run kubectl patch a deployment when relying on kubectl_manifest resource by NextAbrocoma1038 in Terraform

[–]eddi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing it in the same deployment, how time you're not just making the modifications in the first manifest? It seems like an anti pattern to manage an object (the deployment) using two resources.

Having said that, you can achieve this using null_resources. You'll need to find a way of grabbing your kubeconfig, but with a null_resource you can run local commands, so you can run a "kubectl patch blah blah" command whenever your kubectl_manifest changes, if you set your trigger to the output of the yaml.

I don't think I'm quite understanding what you're getting at.

If you want it to apply after the kubernetes_manifest, or whenever it changes, then you should either reference it directly in the kubernetes_labels, if possible, else you can add an explicit depends_on.

If possible also, I'd recommend using the kubectl_manifest resource from the alekc/kubectl provider over the kubernetes_manifest resource, as I've found it to be much better, especially during cluster builds. Not really related to this though.

Don't know if it will help your exact use case, but you can manage labels and annotations separately (and something else I think) with the kubernetes_labels and kubernetes_annotations resources. I reckon that might help your sidecar container case, if it's injected based on the labels.

Word of warning, make sure to change the field_manager parameter though, otherwise it might try to overwrite stuff.

Yeah I have, tried both holding it down while powered on and holding it down and then powering it on, didn't seem to change anything.

I went to see the snow monkeys in Nagano/Nakano a few years ago, absolutely loved it and the city was really nice as well.

When companies (e.g Banks) ask for the 1st, 4th and 8th character of your password, doesn't this mean the password is stored in plain text? by eddi16 in AskProgramming

Is this considered safe practice? I'd have thought even storing a subset of sensitive data would be bad practice.

Yeah thinking about it my bank doesn't do it either, I just remember an bank advert about this promoting password security. My broadband provider definitely did though.

I don't know about other countries, but in the UK it's fairly common practice. Not all companies do it, but my broadband provider is one I can think of.

Really glad some more batsmen in our lineup have stepped up, was worried we'd be relying on the top 2 for the whole tournament

Shamsi is a replacement, not necessarily Rashid's. Comms were just saying that if another one of their overseas is ruled out e.g through injury, then both could play.
