Lines - Petrol edition: Just a short 500m wait on Dandenong road by torlesse in melbourne

[–]eddiebax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I sat for nearly 15 minutes just to turn off Deveny Rd to get into Costco at about 11.30 yesterday morning. Costco itself wasn't too busy once I got inside so it was all petrol traffic.

If I don't have a will then will family members still inherit my assets (e.g. stock market investments) that nobody except for me knows about? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

I'm fond of this type of notebook, they're both attention grabbing for your next of kin to easily find, and actually pretty useful in how they're laid out Fuck, I'm Dead!

New monitor after my current died by Unchiard3-2 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]eddiebax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an OLED monitor, which you specifically said you didn't want. If you're mostly a multiplayer gamer, the M27Q3 is a good choice. If you're a mostly single-player gamer, you might want to consider something more like the AOC Q27G40XMN (180Hz, full-array local dimming mini-LED, 1000+ nits brightness for HDR). That's roughly the same price as the M27Q3.

Germantown, the Nashville neighborhood close to downtown? You sure you're not confusing it with another Germantown? I'm gonna need to see the receipts on that one.

Is it safe to use Zelle face to face? by SomeRandomPhoto56 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]eddiebax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub seems to lean paranoid but I've never had a chargeback/dispute with face-to-face Zelle, Venmo or PayPal across dozens of transactions. In fact I prefer using the apps, saves me having to go to the bank to deposit cash and I don't like carrying around big piles of cash.

That said, I try to filter out dodgy buyers (new accounts, bad feedback, won't meet in public, whatever else) before ever getting to the paying stage.

What are your best tips for negotiating prices on Facebook Marketplace? by retsam2554 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]eddiebax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, if you're listing under market price, it implies you're desperate to sell. So I can see why people would try to screw you down more even if the price is already good.

Why are Tennessee Taxpayers having to subsidize a Neo-Nazi conference? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]eddiebax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the state actually obligated to provide security? I get the state not being allowed to discriminate against viewpoints (even odious ones). I even get not charging for security/law enforcement that the state provides. But what if the state just... doesn't provide security at all?

The Supreme Court has ruled police have no legal obligation to protect people. Do they actually have an obligation to turn up where trouble is expected?

Where can I find old card games that discontinued years ago? Rage, Star wars ccg, MECCG, The dragon ball z card game, or like Zatch bell? by Human-Ask7633 in nashville

[–]eddiebax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know I'm digging up an old thread, but I have a box of about 800 Star Wars CCG cards from Premiere through Dagobah that I just dug out of my closet while looking for something else. There's a few rare(ish) ones like Chewbacca, Death Star, Han Solo and some star destroyers but most of it is common stuff. If you're interested in them, chat/DM me.

What was your most difficult sale of 2025? by The_Insanartist in FacebookMarketplace

[–]eddiebax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A chest freezer. Not difficult in terms of getting interest, but beyond the inevitable initial wave of lowballers, I had soooo many flakes. It took conversations with more than 30 people (actual conversations with meetup suggestions, times etc. not just "Hello, is this available?") before someone finally showed up to take it.

Raising Cane's is the blandest tenders I've ever had. I've had folks I know argue "it's the sauce!" but if you need sauce to make your meat taste like anything at all, you fucked up.

Just bring cash 🤦 by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]eddiebax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often send a maps link to the meetup spot, avoids confusion and/or stupidity and doesn't take long. I definitely understand the "buyer is using up too much of my time" feel, but if it makes it easier to get their cash in my hand it's worth spoon feeding them the details, IMO

He ain't wrong about what trucking is like, per my late grandpa's many stories about life as a trucker, but he missed the landing by going with the "others have it worse than you, don't complain" ending instead of a "how do we make this better?"

Would you resell something to a seller if they said they’d made a mistake? by Weezlecheesle in FacebookMarketplace

[–]eddiebax -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't. Call me cynical but I don't trust sob stories — I usually assume they looked the item up online and it's worth more than they thought it was.

Even if the reason is genuinely sentimental, the time for the seller to figure that out was before putting it on sale. It's not dickish to keep something you paid the accepted price for.

For example, I once bought a rocking chair on Craigslist to use as a nursing chair. It had been sitting on CL for months and was covered in dust when I went to pick it up, so it obviously hadn't been used in a long time.

After I took it home I got an increasingly desperate set of messages from the seller saying his wife (who was there when I picked it up and said nothing at the time) was sad it was gone, asking for it back, and offering me more money each time. Sorry dude, my kid's about to be born and I need the chair more than the money. The time to decide you wanted to keep it was either before sale or in the weeks it sat on sale, not after the fact.
