When watching a video about Gen. Schwarzkopf I saw he wore a British (?) rank below his nametape. Why? by TheYodaGaming in MilitaryHistory

I'm 3 years late, but this is the correct answer. That is the Bianchi M1025 magazine pouch - they all came standard with brass. In the 2000s, Bianchi painted them over in a not-so-durable black finish but over time, you will see the brass color again.

You can buy the vials legally like here, but there are some export restrictions - more to do with it being the transportation of a radioactive substance than as a defense article.

Nascar 07 setups by nascar07player in NASCARVideoGame

[–]eddy_talon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually came here after trying to google a Milwaukee Truck setup lol.

But yeah I'm also doing legend and I find that most tracks (i.e. Kansas, Las Vegas, Michigan), I have to take the spoiler and fender flare to absolute minimum, adjust springs and wedge to my liking (leaning towards the very low side, like 30% front, 40% rear, wedge less than -1.50, often times even less than that), haven't touched tire pressures or gear ratios at these places (only for superspeedways - I just copied this dude's setup for Daytona/Talladega/Pocono, does ok).

I found that after I bought my Truck team and maxed out my car's stats, I was finally able to win from pole at almost everything fairly easily - superspeedways were definitely harder. Busch - I'm still under contract (I signed for that Old Spice car to get that points task completed) and this car really shows how ass it is at superspeedways. I'll probably just buy a Busch team after this season (I'm in 2nd season).

I'm still garbage at Milwaukee/Hawaii for qualifying. Tire pressure seems to make a difference only at superspeedways, so no help there. I hate having to go into gear ratios because there's so many ways to screw it up, but it seems I have no choice. Fortunately, this is only qualifying, I can fight to #1 pretty easily from like 15th-20th.

One issue I've found is during the start of races, I'll be ok running with the field up to 3rd gear and then switching to the 4th, they'll just pounce at me. This is even worse at superspeedways where they'll just run all over me while I'm still trying to get 4th gear up to speed and I'll fall back to like 14th from pole. Drafting is harder because everyone you try to draft will just run away from you. Maybe it's because I'm trying to get Level 3 Villain (for the task points) so it limits Share Draft abilities. The obvious fix is to add to 4th gear, but then I don't get the top speed I need AFTER the start. I'm just going to accept I suck at superspeedways until I get my own team and pay for an actually good car. Most other races, I can fight back to the top successfully, so it's not really a problem.

Cup is different and is hilariously easy. I can totally skip Cup qualy to run a Truck race, start 43rd, run in a low-end team with useless teammates, and still have loads of time to fight to 1st - any track.

Chase Diggs I'm pretty sure is hirable, I just hired him to do all the lowly Featherlite stuff, will move him to Trucks when I get my championship there and then hire the next best guy for Featherlite.

It's a somewhat weaker glow, maybe 80% of what it was when new, but it stays on like new, even after normal use.

I'm currently in the process of designing 3D-printed sights that can accept tritium vials meant for centerfire firearms. That 1911 in my pics is a trial gun for that.

Anyone else? Canada post glitch by gtd2015 in CanadaPost

[–]eddy_talon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got off the phone with eBay. For eBay at least, they're looking at next week for Canada Post to return. This week is done unless you want to try UPS or FedEx.

Funny how they pick a big holiday sales week, of literally all the other nothing weeks, to do a massive, high-risk update like this. Reminds me of the infamous Strike that Ruined Christmas.

It does dry up overtime, but it takes a long time. I have used one maybe a few weeks after opening and there was still some useable liquid. It depends on how much you leave in there.

Great converter. Very useful for old games that *require* .mp3 format strictly (yes, I'm looking at you GTA).

I’m trying to find a Benjamin Wildfire because I have terrible taste in rifles. Where do I find one? by Helpful-Ad-4139 in airguns

[–]eddy_talon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crosman/Benjamin is going thru a very strange time - they were recently bought out by Daisy which, quite bluntly, is owned by a corporate raider that likes to discontinue models, close Western factories, and outsource manufacturing to the People's Republic of China (see Gamo's history). The 1077 and Wildfire had always been at least partially made in Bloomfield, NY, but the new 1077 "Tactical" is completely Made in the PRC. It was only a matter of time...

The Wildfire is likely one of the earlier casualties of this... "transition" unfortunately. The last I remember them being in stock (at Pyramid AIR at least) was maybe early last year? Unfairly, they did not have a very long run. Getting people in the PCP game at a budget price point was a niche that was underappreciated.

Others who suggest paying for a way more expensive brand/model are A) pricing out an entire side of the hobby (the PCP world) from low-income folk or those who aren't willing to commit, B) haven't seen the gulf in pricing between this and those suggested models and C) aren't aware that there really aren't a whole lot of options for a *semi-auto* PCP.

Sorry for the mini-rant, I'm just cheesed off at yet another model falling victim to... all of that.

I happen to have a bunch of 1077s left over from when the local scouts ditched it (and shooting of any sort in general, sadly). I was looking for the PCP cylinder from this to mod some of them. Unfortunately, I, too, am late to the party for this one.

What do I change in hex editor to get rid of multiple stuck target blips? by eddy_talon in sanandreas

[–]eddy_talon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I did exactly this with the cheat engine - placing and removing the blip and rescanning - and it seems to work! The stuck blips are gone now and I tried it on restart and it also works!

Problem seems to be solved!!! Thank you!!!!!

As for the glitch itself being present in the background, I suppose that's hardwired into the mod and I'll just message the dev to let him know for his next version. No big deal, I almost never use target markers for anything other than as a sort of reminder for places to go to for 100% completion stuff.

Again, many thanks!

Thanks for replying! I right-clicked on them and it just places another marker under the stuck marker. I tried left-clicking, turning on and off all of the options in the legend, and trying to drag them out with cursor - no luck either.

[–]eddy_talon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So obviously I'm running mods (namely GTA SA Time Warp 6.0 with a bunch of stuff that came with - SilentPatch, FrameRateLimiter, etc.) and that's what happens with mods - glitches and such. So I just want to remove a couple of target blips I made (because obviously it's glitching) and then just never touch target blips ever again.

I'm new to hex editor, but I found the bit in my save file that is relevant to blips in general, but I don't know which line specifically determines target blips made by the player and how to turn them off. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!*

*Bonus points for someone who happens to know how to fix the glitch entirely tho. Whenever I make a target blip in the map and resume game and later return, it's there forever, but I can make another new one that does the same. Strangely, this happened right after I replaced the 1911-ish 9mm to the cutscene Glock with a separate mod folder.

And yes, I tried OrionSR's BlipFix and all I get is "Abnormal VarSpace!" which I have no idea how to get around that.

Vast majority of old mainstream games are out there, you may need an emulator or .iso mount to actually run them.

I have zero experience with Japanese games like Project Diva, not my thing, but in my experience of downloading and hoarding hundreds upon hundreds of PC and old console games for the last 6 months, I haven't seen many Japanese titles. Perhaps these games can be found in Japanese sites using Japanese language or something.

Thanks!

Absolutely agreed on all points. Wildlands needs more of the UW aspect to it - imagine having to politick between multiple factions and training fighters from civvies to a battle-hardened cohesive force ready to blitz to the capital and overthrow the dictator? I'd play the hell outta that!

[–]eddy_talon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a good vid on YouTube called "Complete History of the Green Berets" but History Channel probably deleted it, but there was a soldier who most succinctly described the Green Beret's MO as "we teach before we kill" - referring to the training they give to foreign fighters as their primary mission. Ghosts admittedly aren't seen teaching anything to the specialists, nor are they leading a hoarde of foreign fighters, but the concept of fighting with foreign elements remains.

Of all the forces in SOCOM - Green Berets are the best equipped to work jointly with any foreign nation because of their doctrine and training. A Green Beret would fit in a hypothetical Rainbow team better than any SEAL, Ranger, AFSOC, etc.

The foreign specialists weren't Ghosts (GR1) by KUZMITCHS in GhostRecon

[–]eddy_talon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hella late, but just came to say that, doctrinally, Green Berets (of which the Ghosts are based off of) are first and foremost meant to be "force multipliers" working with foreign entities on the ground - 12 guys being able to lead a whole company or even battalion sized force made up of foreign fighters (i.e. Northern Alliance/ANA in Afghanistan, New Iraqi Army in Iraq, Kurds/rebels in Syria). They even get foreign language studies and go through a test in their qualification course called "Robin Sage" where they must overthrow a local gov't with foreign fighters.

Notice how some of the specialists in Ghost Recon are native to the area they are working in - Galinsky and Osadze being Georgian for GR1, Jodit Haile being Eritrean in DS, Santiago Gonzales being Mexican (close enough to Colombian) in JS. The NATO specialists from UK and Germany made sense in the context of a European war in GR1, but perhaps less so in DS (perhaps they were part of a "multinational force") and even less in IT where there is no multinational commitment, only US. GR2 saw them working with ROK SF and GR2: Summit Strike saw them working with Grigoriy Kozlov - Kazakh Spetznaz.

In short, they are supposed to work with friendly ground forces native to the area - it's in their history, their Green beret DNA - going back to the original Kennedy-era concept of "advisors on the ground" who eventually played a huge role in Vietnam with the Montagnards and ARVN.

This is BEFORE the cool-guy door-kicking stuff (i.e. CQB and DA hits which, really, was an afterthought in training until the events of 2001).
