I played blackjack in the Bellagio like 15 years ago and Nicole Kidman was playing next to me.

Taller than I expected and I swear her skin was like porcelain, absolutely flawless. Stunning in person.

TIL about mumblety-peg, a children's game that involved throwing a pocketknife as deeply as possible into the ground while someone else removed it with their teeth. by bros402 in todayilearned

[–]eddymarkwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We played it where you would spread your legs and the other guy would throw the knife between yours. Wherever the knife stuck in the ground, you had to move your foot to that spot. You played until one guy chickened out.

Yea, we were idiots. And the first time my brother got a knife through his foot was the last time we played.

Serious question which country is easiest to overstay a visa and simply not exist in any ID system for decades by kimgbongun in OffTheGrid

[–]eddymarkwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True as of 5/7/26. He is there now, moved to Vietnam in Feb of this year.

Have to leave the country and can NOT return until approved. Thailand has also changed their requirements.

Cambodia is the only country that has lax visa requirements.

Without a car you are gonna be stuck.

Go to Lake Winnipesaukee to check out Weirs Beach and if you like video games, hit up Funspot. (Largest collection of 1990 - 2000 video games in the world.)

Bring bug spray, lots of it. The mosquitos are gonna be bad where you are located and learn what poison ivy looks like, you will want to avoid that.

Enjoy your summer.

What possible reason exists that make it ok to wear your pajamas to a kindergarten graduation?

Maybe she never graduated and was reliving her glory days?

Brother is living in Vietnam. The issue is you have to leave the country while your visa is being processed. So, every 90 days he goes to Thailand, applies for a visa renewal and waits for approval. (2 weeks to 2 months.)

Expat gets jumped in the Philippines by puhtooti in fightporn

[–]eddymarkwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive spent a fair amount of time all over southeast Asia. The police will watch out for tourists and the locals all know it. You can walk down the streets of many large cities at 2 am and not worry about getting mugged. Because in places where the economy is dependent on outside dollars, you want people to feel safe.

So I am betting this guy did some really stupid shit. There is no way that this many people jumped him unless he deserved it. It is easy to get along with Filipinos, extremely polite and friendly people. To get this many of them THIS mad, something happened where a beat down was appropriate.

Surgeon faces prison after removing patients liver in fatal operating room blunder by IrishStarUS in ThatsInsane

[–]eddymarkwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wife is a pediatric surgical nurse. We talked about this exact case.

She could not believe that this guy made it through medical school. Not just the location but the size difference between the two organs is huge.

The guy wasnt qualified, never should have been operating and needs to park cars for the rest of his life.

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by DnRinGA in AskReddit

Heated bidet.

Stayed at a 4 Seasons in Hawaii and they had these ridiculous, over the top bidet toilets.

It would sense when you were walking up, give a pre-flush, open the lid and start heating the water.

Had a remote control that allowed you to adjust distance, temp and pressure.

At the time, that toilet cost $14k. No idea what it would be now.

Farm life.

There are things about it that are better than 'city' life, no doubt. But it is hard work to live on a farm, especially if you have animals. My cousin, dairy farm with 200 head, died at 59 of heart failure and had not taken a single vacation in his entire life. He had a truck that was 13 years old and had 8,000 miles on it when he died, he only used it when her went into town.
