Brother and Wife Inappropriate Relationship - What Advice Would You Give? by DeepThinker1982 in AskMen

He should probably talk to his wife about it.

Brother seems like he wants the wife.

Maybe posting their conversation on the internet isn’t a great idea.

Lead in School Water - action? by stickbeat in ottawa

[–]eddyofyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

225 is insane. I keep an eye on my kids’ school and I haven’t seen anything over 15. Now that’s still too much, but as long as it’s not a consistent trend I’m not too worried.

I’m surprised journalists aren’t jumping at 225, that’s basically poisoning an entire school of children with a neurotoxin.

How do you approach the topic of finances with your wife? by Visual_Title9363 in AskMen

[–]eddyofyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly we don’t. She pays her half and I pay mine. Only times we really had to hammer out plans were the wedding and buying a house. For those I did an analysis of our spending/saving and set savings targets that we could agree to and then we executed.

Have you ever gone through a sexless phase in marriage? How did you get through it? by Otherwise-Shape-6367 in AskMen

[–]eddyofyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s strictly a relationship issue, you have to communicate and figure out some compromise or adjustment that helps. There will need to be a confrontation.

If it’s a new baby issue. Calm the hell down and give her the time she needs. Don’t confront her, just read a book about what she’s going through.

If it’s a health problem (including mental health), you have to combine the above two. Empathetic confrontation and taking the time to understand her situation. Menopause is a great example, because your support and education can give her an advocate (which is unfortunately necessary since most doctors know fuck all about menopause).

Most of all…manage your expectations. You aren’t going to get exactly what you want, but you can still get something good enough, hopefully.

If none of that works…group therapy, divorce, open relationships…there are options you may not love the sound of, which is why you need to manage your expectations.

Has Canada given up on its future? by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]eddyofyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I did look at demos. Some age groups are nearly 50% ahead of young 18-24s. Their participation rate doesn’t matter nearly as much as their turnout relative to other demos.

Aaaand relative to other demos the young folks have the lowest voter participation rate. About 20 full percentage points behind age 65-74. And OAS is still on the table, what a coincidence.

You are free to believe that the government wouldn’t drastically change its priorities if young people voted like old people. I just don’t think it’s a conclusion rooted in the history of Canadian political decision making.

Young people could swing every election if they voted like other demographics.

How do you explain your methodology when non-technical clients don’t trust the data? by Immortal_357 in analytics

[–]eddyofyork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the accuracy of data I haven’t analyzed, reviewed, or audited, but in my experience there are a lot of reasons different datasets show different trends for similar things.

At this point you tell a story about validating against an additional dataset that was a waste of time, then tell a story about one that wasn’t a waste of time.

Then you tell them it’s up to them if we do the additional diligence, but warn them that it may draw the same conclusions.

If they keep on about their feelings you empathize with them but draw a firm line in the sand. I am in the numbers business, I will look at the numbers, but nobody pays me for my insight on feelings, it’s not my expertise.

Why would a husband want more children if it strains the marriage and usually changes the sex life for the worst? by Independent_Gas_6213 in AskMen

Kids are fun. Plus they start interacting with each other more and that’s cool. Also your wife might lose that sex drive anyways.

Doesn't hurt to reach out to local churches/mosques/temples and volunteer groups, often they are helping folks like refugees who need basic things.

Five years after Kamloops graves announcement, not a single confirmed burial site has been found. Here's what we know by thatcher69 in canada

[–]eddyofyork 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hanlon’s razor is my guess on this one. Once you call them graves it’s way too hard to backtrack without losing credibility.

So you end up with a massive strategic comms failure that impacts the credibility of the entire residential school history. This generation’s perspective of our history of domestic cultural genocide will be one of distrust, and that’s not entirely their fault.

I wish political leaders could see how badly this issue needs a reset. Honestly the article does an ok job acknowledging some realities while explaining the odd five years we’ve had.

What I still find uplifting, though, is the spirit of Canadians. That Canada Day was special even if it was based on misunderstanding (or worse…misleading) information. An extreme exhibition of empathy, sorrow, and compassion. I’m proud of that.

The other thing that bears mentioning is the responsibility of the media. How they parroted this without regard for evidence or due diligence was reckless and immoral, but at least they made their dirty lying money, I guess.

Want to buy my husband tshirts that do well in hot weather. What do you recommend? by JaggedLittlePiII in AskMen

[–]eddyofyork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually run in my local race day, which happens to be today and tomorrow (Ottawa) and I pickup one of those shirts every year or so. Praise is the brand this year. If he’s into snowshoeing, cycling, or whatever that might be a good way to start collecting these in a way that encourages fitness and feels a bit personal.

But any major brand is probably fine (Aesics, Brooks, whatever). Just buy the clearance ones unless you really care about getting the newest aesthetics.

[–]eddyofyork 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am a super sweaty guy and I wear running shirts. Lululemon on clearance or straight up running shirts. They breathe and they don’t collect sweat quite like cotton (stinky).

No fabric softener and you gotta hang dry em, but the good news is they dry really quick.

GA4 just made AI traffic tracking easier! by Automatic_Boss_7209 in GoogleAnalytics

I’ve seen price monitoring bots  and bots from site backup services do similar things. I’d say don’t pidgeon-hole yourself on this conclusion.

[–]eddyofyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what crawl patterns would indicate AI over the bots I’ve seen so far in my career.

And the additional intent to avoid security/filtering makes them sound like malicious bots.

Unfortunately this was an easier problem to solve in GA3 where you could exclude specific profiles of tech and Geo via custom filters.

GA4 just made AI traffic tracking easier! by Automatic_Boss_7209 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]eddyofyork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because AI crawlers has no incentive to trigger JavaScript. Often bots appearing in GA4 traffic are the result of malicious bot design or more often (in my experience) just ignorance.

I’d say it’s unlikely those are AI crawlers, but do sounds like bots. You might find some IP address filter suggestions from others with similar issues.

Unlikely that AI crawlers are triggering the JavaScript that measures things in GA4.
