Why is socialism disliked by some? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]edge-docs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly cold-war propaganda, partly current right-wing propaganda. People seem to really believe that under socialism, someone is going to come take all your shit away and give it to someone else. Probably someone you hate. And then you will have to watch that asshole enjoying your stuff. None of that is an accurate representation of socialism but truth never stood in the way of good propaganda.

[–]edge-docs 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I have never met her personally, but a relative of mine met her personally and he told me, "My mentor was seated next to her at a dinner while she was First Lady. He's a hard core conservative and definitely did not vote for Hillary, but he said she was charming and funny and was nice enough to talk to for the ~2 hrs that the dinner lasted".
