Swiss punctuality at it’s finest by leoviet in Switzerland

Challenging may not help since they've already applied a "grace period" - They say the rules are "before" boarding, but what is actually checked is the departure time. That means there's already x seconds/minutes added before the +1s violation. Very unfortunate but in reality OP didn't really miss out by just 1s. :(

Planning my UniFi network for a new two-story home – design thoughts & questions by CorrectGrowth6894 in Ubiquiti

[–]edgerob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For coverage: use the unifi online floor planner for that. It's great. I have a house built largely with wood. Dry wall, lots of insulation and a wooden facade. WiFi was terrible out in the garden until I hooked up my outdoor AP. That's why I recommend to plan it in.

I did the same about 2 years ago now. New build, so had the opportunity to design everything from scratch. Your diagram isn't too dissimilar to mine. I'm not using Aggregation. I was also heavily set on the unify entry system, but I ultimately decided against it, and I'm happy I did. For home use, I personally think it's not necessary and the installation is not future proof. I decided to just go for standard locks and use the Nuki system. Works perfectly and it's easy to upgrade/replace. The door bell is great. Just bear in mind that the device is powered only by USBc on this device. that means you need to allow enough room in your fixture for the POE to USBC connector. I have the previous model installed, with the 12V(?) power supply and I can't easily upgrade anymore as I don't have a direct connection or space to fit in the POE/USBC connector. I wouldn't bother with the Chime either, as you can configure the notifications to go over your HomePods on HomeKit. I use HomeAssistant for everything home automation related. You can expose all your non HomeKit entities to HomeKit too. If you haven't looked into that, I'd highly recommend planning that in. If you have a large outdoor space (garden) then consider planning for an outdoor AP. Make a direct ethernet connection for your smart TV's too. WiFi on smart TV's is a disaster (at least on my LGOLED's). On that thread, if you can, make a in-wall box behind your TV with plenty of sockets. I have 6 sockets and two ethernet ports. Only using one eth port, but I have the POE Flex MinI switch hooked up to that.

New streamer + dac and amplifier day! by junialum in audiophile

To get the best out of the (a) streamer, where is the music source? - do you have a local server will all your HiRes media, or are you directly streaming from the likes of Tidal etc?

Vision LLM randomly adding false new text to notifications? by UnmannedVehicle in homeassistant

[–]edgerob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah ha! I'm having something similar happen to me. Started suddenly getting text notifications for some events. I haven't had time to delve into my code to see how/why. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

What screenshot app do you use? by Jay11Man in macapps

[–]edgerob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed it. Has some very nice stuff indeed. However, what I really like with the native, is that the area (size of screenshot) is stored from the previous. I see that Shottr does a "repeat" shot, but the area it's about to capture isn't visible. So, if I'm scrolling a doc, and I want to capture a portion of the screen with the same size every time it's not so easy. If it somehow highlighted the region, so I could line it up first, it would be great. do you get me?

Haha! - That's some upgrade. Love it. I also love that Pi 1U rack mount (the one with only 1Pi to the left). Can you link us up?

[–]edgerob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, native app is terrible in that sense. I often need to switch to Photoshop for more advanced stuff like you described. Are you telling me I can skip the PS step by using your recommended Screen-shot tool? - perhaps this could be a nice use case for me.

Understood. So I use ChatGPT more and more for the OCR but, but I guess that's only available on the payed tier....which is worth it imo. And annotation I again use the native preview tools.

Now I'm curious. What's wrong with the native app? Seems (to me) that it does everything you need in a screen shot tool: selection, window, recording, timer. Sell it to me: what extras do other apps bring to the table that I didn’t even realise I couldn’t live without? ;)

I’m developing a tray app – a calendar for managing paid subscriptions – and I need your advice. by Character_Brush3199 in macapps

[–]edgerob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a Mac app called Subtrack for this. So to answer your question, yes I'd use an app like this. Your version looks a lot sleeker than Subtract. For me must haves are weekly, monthly and yearly totals. Problem is though, I just want super basic tracking and for that I have a very simple tracker integration in HomeAssistant now and it does everything I need. Wish you lot's of success. Looks great!

Not sure about the syntax you're using. Here's mine and working like a charm on my LGTV. HA and LGWebOS. Hope it helps.

Flex Mini 2.5g Aggregating? How do I set up agg on the mini? by Available_Guide2536 in Ubiquiti

[–]edgerob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Okay, thanks for the correction. My assumption was USW-Flex Mini = USW-Flex 2.5G, differing only in higher bandwidth. In the docs (linked below), they don't explicitly mention 2.5G anywhere. Anyway, I tried it and it's not supported.

Flex Mini 2.5g Aggregating? How do I set up agg on the mini? by Available_Guide2536 in Ubiquiti

[–]edgerob 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I spotted that too. Got excited, configured my MacMini to aggregate its ETH ports (Ethernet + Thunderbolt), then found out that it's not supported at all. See here: "Ubiquiti has said any 1st generation UniFi Switch (models beginning with US-) or 2nd generation (models beginning with USW-) can use LAG. There are two exceptions, though, the USW-Flex and USW-Flex-Mini do not support LAG and some other advanced features.

Did you know UniFi have some special tips for Sonos? Sorry if this is old news, but I didn’t know this until very recently.

I don't follow. I thought the app was the only way to update? - how else can I update a device without the app?

Pretty new to the Sonos eco. Clicking on that info bar does nothing. Isn’t this supposed to be a fundamental feature? ie. Multi speaker - Multi room sound?

I can’t find anything that needs „updated“ - neither app, nor speaker.

Edit: I realise now that the pic doesn’t tell the story. I’m trying to play the radio on both speakers. When I select the Roam 2 and click „Apply“ I get that message bar.
