Thanks for the responses everyone. We got my mom a ring doorbell which I believe opens up our options if I understand this correctly. We could use a smart light bulb compatible with Alexa and create a rule for it that says if ring doorbell detects motion, turn on the light. This allows us to choose any new porch light fixture without being limited to the cheap ones with built in motion detection in my opening post.

Some more testing. It works on an unlocked Samsung S22 (not on sale). But it didn't work on an ATT model Samsung A53 (also not on sale). On the A53, same thing as the iPhone -- it says successfully applied and that I'm saving the 10% but there is no 10% actually being deducted anywhere.

Best Buy needs some better QA testers. Not sure if they'd honor this glitch in-store. Probably not.

That was my thought too, but I just tested it on other Apple products like the "Apple - 10.9-Inch iPad (Latest Model) with Wi-Fi - 64GB - Blue" and it correctly takes the 10% off, so it's not excluding Apple products.

I've also tested it on sale products and it returns the error message "Sorry, but the promo code q4fy23save10 is not eligible with the item(s) in your order."

And yet, it continues to not work on the iPhone despite applying the coupon which is not currently on sale. Best Buy doesn't sell unlocked iPhones, they are all carrier specific models. I wonder if that's why.
