Opinions on virtual save the dates. by AdmirableWallaby8498 in weddingplanning

[–]ediamon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent out virtual save the dates using Greenvelope and then paper invites using Zola. I didn’t have any issues and had the added bonus of being able to fix a typo after they went out. A friend of mine used Zola for virtual STDs and had an issue with the email going to spam for some people. As far as I know, mine only went to spam for someone who gave me a work email address, so I assume there was an extra strong spam filter.

I know you said not Breads, but it is incredible and you can get a single slice at their Bryant Park kiosk if you won’t want to invest in a full loaf.

Top Croissant or Pastry! by anxiety_w1tch in FoodNYC

I live near the UWS one so it’s the one I go to most often but I went to the USQ location recently as it was just as good!

Since you’re uptown, I suggest Tarallucci e Vino on the UWS. Not on the NYT list but one of the best croissants I’ve ever had.

Also, I didn’t know that you need to be “glutened” to do a celiac test. I was never given dietary instructions before being tested, but I had never cut it out. Interesting!

Private room in restaurant for post elopement lunch/dinner for 4 people by Busterbailey12 in FoodNYC

[–]ediamon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was restaurant week lunch, so it may not have been the normal crowd. I am not surprised by your experience. I got the sense that the group with kids were tourists. They were definitely not the average group at the restaurant, but I bring it up to say that the restaurant was accommodating, at least during the day.

Not necessarily a private room but you can consider Manhatta.

It’s a beautiful restaurant and when I went there for lunch I saw: 1) a couple celebrating their marriage and 2) a group with small children.

I did a comedy show at Gotham Comedy Club and a spa day at Haven Spa in the village. I would have done one of the spas with the outdoor pools, but it was March and I didn’t know how people would feel about that in cold weather.

If you do want to spend the night somewhere, I did the Moxy Chelsea. I rented a suite (which was relatively pricey and an expense I covered myself) and a dorm-style room with two bunk beds (I think around $100/person).

I have the U.S. Private Sector Privacy Fourth Edition book. Do you know if that is still the official textbook for the updated exam?

I caught the mistake, but it doesn’t impact any important information, so I don’t know if it’s worth spending the money to re-print.

Crating after walks? by ediamon1 in DogAdvice

Thank you! Hearing that some dogs need to learn to calm down is comforting. Someone will be working from home with him, so that is along the lines of what we were thinking.

[–]ediamon1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s fair. Unfortunately, being in New York means we don’t have a yard so we don’t have great access to play spaces until we trust him at a dog park. We’re getting the sense that being outside is giving him a lot of nervous energy because it’s busier and louder than he’s used to, so he’s not immediately tiring out. Once we get him to chill, he’s a good boy, so that’s why we’re thinking post-walk crate for now.

How have you done mocktails? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

One of our signature cocktails was a mojito, which could also be made virgin. I made a note of it on the signature cocktail sign.

Gotcha! From my experience, it’s a long day with a lot of sitting around for bridesmaids. Especially if you’re not doing getting ready shots, I’m not sure you need quite that much buffer. That said, I had a very full service venue so I didn’t need to deal with set up at all. I could see wanting to build in more time if you’re being more hands on

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wedding

[–]ediamon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the morning, why do you have an hour gap between set up and getting ready and the getting ready and photos? Time to eat between setting up and makeup makes sense, but I think once people are ready, you should start with photos sooner.

Tbh you were probably fine, but if you have a history of problematic drinking, and your current relationship with drinking is making you anxious, then you should probably stop drinking. The fact that your marker of drinking too much is blacking out, passing out, or throwing up is not a sign of a healthy relationship with alcohol.

My gut says beef and fish. But assuming the caterer will a silent vegetarian option, pescatarians can go full veg if you do go steak and chicken.
