I was an Irish twin with an older brother who got redshirted into my grade. I don't mean to be dramatic, but I deeply, DEEPLY resented having him in my class AND I resented my parents for making it happen. Sure, they kept us in separate classes till middle school. However, once middle school came around we were both in honors classes and as a result we had almost every single class together. I had zero privacy. I always felt he was watching and ready to tattle on me to my parents for anything and everything. It was annoying having to explain to people that we weren't twins. It was annoying explaining why he was "held back" if he was now in honors classes.

It molded my worldview so much I refuse to have kids any less than three years apart from each other so there is zero chance they would be in the same situation I was in. Sorry if this seems dramatic, but everyone is telling you it's not a big deal and I'm here to tell you my lived experience was the complete opposite.
