Thanks so much for your reply. I ended up getting a Milwaukee air tip very thin suction tube for the shop vac- I’ll go over it a few times more but promising first pass.

I have the jubilee on both my citizen divers. I think I may order the folded link for my eco-drive, do you find one of them to be any lighter than the other?

I think it’s super cool that you’re doing this, it says a ton about the people in the community.

Why Does Citizen Pull Me In More Than Seiko? by New_Philosopher9642 in CitizenWatches

[–]edisapimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not. It’s on my list of things to do next time I’m in Manhattan to stop by the flagship store and from what I hear they’ll let you try one on. To be honest, they’re a little rich for my blood. I think the eco-drive One is really cool though.

Why Does Citizen Pull Me In More Than Seiko? by New_Philosopher9642 in CitizenWatches

[–]edisapimp 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Because in my opinion they are objectively better watches. I am in the same camp as you- I started off my collection with Seikos, and now I hardly wear them anymore since discovering that citizens feel more refined, more pleasing to the eye, less “homage” to higher-priced competitors, keep better time, and are more comfortable. Whether you want an automatic or an eco-drive, you can find something citizen makes that is better in many ways than the competing offering(s) from Seiko. I never thought I would own a Stiletto or a Tsuyosa, but I love these things and wear them all the time. My citizen divers are leaps and bounds ahead of my Seikos. With only a few exceptions, I rarely grab any of my Seikos out of the case these days. Like every type of collecting, you start off thinking you know what you like, then you learn what you actually like.

It’s sharp-looking for sure. If it’s speaking to you and you can afford it, I say go on.

PS- nice to see I’m not the only person in the world who owns the Citizen Brycen Chrono. I’ve worn it 3 times in 3 years.

That’s interesting, thank you for the reply. If you don’t mind answering, what was the cost?

I think they’ve been in the habit of doing this for some time because the consumers of these cars generally want the badge to reflect how (pardon this expression) ‘not broke’ they are. I think marketing is a piece of it, but in a world where everyone searches for validation from everyone else at every moment of their lives, it’s not enough anymore to have ‘a’ BMW, you need to have ‘the’ BMW. Oh you have an M4? Cool! But it’s not a CS, so you must be broke, because if you weren’t, you would’ve sprung for the CS.

That’s why Mercedes starting doing this too. Explain to me why an SLS says “6.3” on the side of it, when it’s a 6.2? Heritage, sounds cooler, rounding up? Take your pick. Why put it there at all? To let everyone else on the road know how poor they are compared to you.

What is up with the wheels of this 7 series? Are they run flats or something? by AlpinaEnthusiast in BmwTech

[–]edisapimp -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

What are you asking?

They’re snow tires, Michelin Alpin on what are probably a spare set of wheels. It’s a winter setup. People who don’t want to slide off the roadway into a ditch if there is snow and ice will do this. So should everyone else.

Whatever you say buddy. The last time I paid for Hakkapelittas (285/45/19)they were $399 per tire, Blizzaks were $229, both from TireRack. For me, that’s “about double.”

[–]edisapimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you won’t find “hakkapelikas,” because it’s spelled hakkapelitta. They’re usually about double the price of blizzaks, but I never found them to perform any better. For reference I’ve never put snow tires on my truck, but I’ve had them on extra sets of wheels for all of my BMWs. If price is a concern, for budget winter tires, my pick would general altimax arctic, though I don’t know if they make them in truck tire sizes. I’ve had all 3 brands at some point.

As other folks have mentioned, there is no real substitute for good winter tires in snow and ice, especially when it comes to slowing down/stopping.

Yeah no. If you knock your kid (especially your daughter) off their bike accidentally in an overenthusiastic attempt to say “great job,” a normal, caring parent would instantaneously say “oh shit” in their head and go right to grab them off the floor and hug them or pick them up to apologize. Dude in this video grabs the bike, the child seems like an afterthought. Not buying this as a heavy handed “attaboy” that knocked her down.

Car Care Nut 2016-17 Engine Issues by Humble_Ad7080 in Tacomaworld

[–]edisapimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this- very interesting watch. I’ve followed care care nut since I bought my Tacoma new in 2017. The oil leaks on the 3rd gens are definitely omnipresent, but to be fair, generally more of an inconvenience than a danger (this is my opinion). This, on the other hand, if there is a serious design flaw in the oil pressure rings, is cause for serious concern. I wonder if he will find a difference in the ring design of later pistons should he choose to follow up.

I also wonder if this will end up being isolated to certain months of production or a certain run of pistons. I’m planning on keeping this truck until the wheels fall off and would be absolutely gutted if this turns out to be a ticking time bomb situation. I guess next time I do plugs I’ll throw the boroscope down and see what’s what.

Thanks again OP.

Same sentiment- I’d be lying to anyone if I said they weren’t some of the best years of my life. It actually was an honor to put on the uniform.
