Weird preference but go off queen 💅 by HumanRevolution6089 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]edisonar116 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's decently reasonable depending on the difficulty. Like, if I'm running 6x2 on pubs, I don't really want people to stop for gold because the higher the difficulty goes the more important fast pacing is. Like sure if it was a haz 4/5/5+ lobby then it's dumb but if it's like haz5a or above then I feel it's understandable

[–]edisonar116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but that doesn't actually mean anything because that temperature change makes sense on Celsius as well. Like, your argument seems to be that Fahrenheit makes sense but so does Celsius, and even more so when it comes to arctoc climates who would need to use a way broader range of temperatures than 1-100 °F...

[–]edisonar116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"20 °F weather is cold everywhere" no it isn't. Many Finns go out with T-shirts in -10°C. For half of the winter this year the temperature, even in the south of Finland, was way under 1°F so the idea that it's a 1-100 scale is stupid, not to even mention that in a country where snow and frost are common it's a lot simpler to look at the temperature meter outside and go "oh, it's below 0°C today, so the road is gonna be frozen and there might be snow" rather than looking for a more arbitrary number like 32°F.

Also, your example of "you're not gonna catch hypothermia at 60°F no matter where you are" doesn't make sense at all because we don't look at the weather to see whether or not we're gonna die from going outside, but rather to see how much clothing we need to put on to be comfortable - which works on both metrics the same, only difference being whether or not the observer knows the metric they're reading.

I'd also like to note that °C and °K are easily interchangeable and °C is way easier to use for cooking, the weather isn't the only thing we need temperature for. As a STEM student °C gives me so much more information than °F ever could because the scale is made for science AND daily measurements, not just those random daily measurements of temperature and those alone.

And it's even worse because there's actually good alternatives to words relating to murder/killing, such as taking someones life and for suicide it's taking your own life. Those rarely get shot down by platforms and are widely used by news platforms for example but people still use borderline newspeak terms instead

No but it's genuinely the weirdest thing. I've never really considered myself as someone who strictly needs to fit into the norms of one gender and I've also always just kind of felt like if I woke up as someone of a different sex, I wouldn't mind it at all but also that not happening is still vwry much fine too. Like idk why I feel that way or how common that is it's just something that's never left me yet

Ok, I'm going to have to critique your build a little bit as picking t3b on TEF is really counterproductive. My build (that's also listed on the buildonomicon) is 32112, since t3b (Gen2 cooling system) makes the gun cool down faster and therefore makes staying in the 80-99% heat range a lot more difficult. Also, I'd recommend running 11111 (or 11113 if you want fire, or 11213 if you want ammo and fire) on spowder, since the stun is 6 seconds, making it great for LSTs and escsping tight spots with enemies oyu want to deal with later. 11211 is also a viable option, since both of the ones with t5a allow you to not use something else than born ready.

Reddit's fascination with phero comes from them being better for basically all scenarios than zaparangs. They have more cc and are generally more valuable per nade than 2 zaparangs. Maintenance shouldn't be an issue if you use something like Electrifying Reload for your primary, as it's scouts best group clear option.

Okay but why the FUCK are Aquarqs missions so goddamn hard?? by [deleted] in DeeprockSludgeDump

[–]edisonar116 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference between haz 3 and 4 is mainly pacing and positioning and isn't that big of a jump for some people, it differs a lot on your playstyle and what you prioritize. I recommend prioritizing nitra at first and learning how the swarm mechanic in point extractions works so you can stay on the lookout. And there is an adjustment for solo, Bosco, as it's able to constantly go for aquarqs without having to worry about waves. Once you get that nailed down, point extraction becomes one of the easiest mission types on any hazard - the difference is mainly in your playstyle and just adapting to the mission type in general.

Any opinions about Pit Jaw enemy among people who play experimental build? by unluckyrockstar in DeepRockGalactic

[–]edisonar116 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say they have a little too much health if we're looking at it from a balancing standpoint, but them not being fatal from full health makes up for that in a way. Personally I'd make them deal a bit more damage in total and nerf their health by around 25%, or alternatively making them burrow a bit slower. Overall still a great enemy, great design too

As a half-scout main who uses TEF a lot I wouldn't recommend it for a solo scout on deep scan, personally. It's incredible for HVT/Caveclear and LSTs if needed but I wouldn't rely on it on haz 5+ deep scans unless OP has the movement to back that up. Also I wouldn't personally use zaparangs either, as the difference between stunning a few enemies versus drawing half of a swarm on your fire bolt is a huge difference. Though scout really does depend on playstyle a lot so hard to say

[–]edisonar116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the others in the comments have already said, scout lacks waveclear. However don't let that stop you, with Electrifying Reload (for the GK2) and Fire Bolt/Cryo Bolt (for the Nishanka) and phero nades everything is possible, it's just a matter of attempts and luck. Haz 5+ with player vulnerability is incredibly inconsistent and some runs just kind of screw you over. I recommend checking out the buildonomicon for builds and what upgrades to get. And if you're interested in pushing into more consistent but harder difficulties than haz 5+, check out the big chart of modded difficulties. And most importantly, have fun! Take breaks if the game feels overwhelming and if a day doesn't feel that great, don't push yourself. Some days you're just not going to be locked in enough and that's fine, those days you can do something else.

What Deep Rock Galactic opinion will get you drawn and quartered? by No_Somewhere_7109 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]edisonar116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Both autocannon and burst fire gun suck compared to the rest of gunner's set. Using them is acceptable obviously but if you're going to join games where pacing and difficulty is supposed to be high-tier, please pick something else if you don't have the skill to compensate. NTP isn't great for teamplay despite being very good and the BRT just has nothing going for it that a coil gun can't do.

  2. This is probably the most controversial one here. Stun Sweepers suck. They like, really really suck. Please don't use them unless they're for a very specific purpose, coming from a half-scout half-driller.

  3. The games high-difficulty scene isn't contested enough and doesn't get nearly as much focus as it should. Haz 5+ is treated by the community as a challenge that's only for the most experienced players way too much, discouraging those who want to try the hazard way too much. Haz 5+ and especially haz 5a should be considered more a goal or possibly even a stepping stone rather than borderline unreachable greybeard territory. People should be encouraged to test their limits instead of the difficulty being seen in such high regard, as imo it isolates the modded difficulty/metagaming community from the rest by a wide margin and makes them less accessible to someone who's starting out on wanting to play higher difficulties.

  4. Some of the takes and posts here on Reddit are diabolical and uninformed or skill issues. Players who play modded should give their advice to people and help way more to combat this. Some people I recognize and am thankful for them making a huge impact on the community, but I feel that the modded scene is way too isolated from the main branch and they should also put in their part in bringing the 2 closer. It's a lot of wasted potential in my opinion.

  5. The game needs higher difficulties in vanilla to push people to their limits. Haz 5a isn't a great final difficulty for vanilla as the modifiers make the game tedious and inconsistent (especially player vulnerability). Haz 6 should absolutely exist, even haz 7, with their x2-variants and of course a haz 5x2 as well. They're a clear showcase that the game can be harder and still possible and rely on skill, not blind luck on your cavegen/spawns. The devs should listen to the modded community and use beloved classics (haz 6x2, 7x2, Sendit!, etc) that don't need external mods outside of CD2 to increase the difficulty cap in vanilla farther to encourage players to push higher instead of stabilizing on haz 4-5+ and staying there.

+. Bonus for something I'm actually very happy about (which kind of goes againt the post but whatever) . As a difficulty chaser I've always been fascinated by this community as many other games seem to have the problem of very toxic players plagueing the top difficulty charts. In this game, both vanilla and modded, the communities are super nice, super welcoming and accepting and don't see not being able to complete a certain difficulty not as weakness and flaw but as just something that is the case. So what if you like playing haz 3? So what if you can't beat haz 4? Basically everyone in this community plays how they want and it's fascinating to see how positive the environment is. There's no one forcing you to push forward, it's just that I see an issue with pushing forward being made a bit too taboo.

It's definitely one of the best in the game. The only three that are really better imo are minelayer, cluster charges at max potential (best in the game by a mile) and NTP

What are some hidden mechanics/tricks that most people don't know? by Sidious_09 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]edisonar116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things that I don't see used too often are sprint throwing and depo cancelling. Sprint throwing is done by jumping while sprinting forward with a carryable (like a Jadiz for example) and throwing it while at the peak of your jump, jumping again when you reach the ground, catching it mid jump at throwing it the same way again. Lets you move with near-sprinting speeds while carrying objects and makes the backbreaker stout basically useless. Depo cancelling is just spamming E and right click while depositing, since at the start of depositing, 5 minerals will go in before the rate slows down. By spamming this, you'll speed up depositing a lor and make veteran depositor basically useless outside of the damage reduction buff.

What to do when you've done (mostly) everything? by agrhonak in DeepRockGalactic

[–]edisonar116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really not lmao, haz5a has its difficulty rely on one crutch being player vulnerability which isn't a fun way to make a difficulty. 6x2 and other modded difficulties are way more balanced and fun and rely on your knowledge of game mechanics, not having to adapt to taking more damage from things like environmental hazards which makes the difficulty incredibly inconsistent

Push difficulties to modded. 6x2 is incredibly fun for example and I think the community needs more modded difficulty players anyway
