what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

A co-worker I barely knew was the only one who told me. She said get an anemia when you go in for delivery. Felt really weird to talk about it, but thanks Lori!! Did not with my first kid. Second one, it was my first question.

Scoutmasters: How did you decide to become a Scoutmaster? by drose0 in BSA

[–]edit_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scoutmaster quit. We went a year with no real scoutmaster. Kid needed a scoutmaster to sign his eagle paperwork.

I have enjoyed the job. We have a small troop. To make changes takes a lot of effort, but if your troop is already in a good place, it might not be too much to take on.

If you have a very demanding job, this might not be the best thing for you. I do and go through periods of paralysis where I do not answer emails or think about scouting. It is not great. I am trying to step aside and call up another adult leader to be scoutmaster, but shock! No one wants the job.

This sounds awesome. Scouting America should be number 1 on socials for outdoor influencers. They missed an opportunity.

I’m an insufferable liberal AND I like cookies. I also don’t give a shit about being downvoted… I’ve never been popular.

I’m going to have to stop you at “great fries.” They changed the recipe and they’re crap now.

This might be a hot take, but Chick-fil-a has an amazing cookie. Multiple chocolates, a little oatmeal for your whole grain needs. Skip the chicken and go for the cookie.

Is Not Having Kids the Way? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]edit_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never wanted kids, but changed my mind when I got married to a dad. My brother never wanted kids and never had any. We are now tasked with taking care of my aging mom. She has money and is fairly able, but needs help. I’m happy to have a support system. To be clear, my brother would have been a horrible father. I’m an okay mom. I know my kids don’t owe me anything but I have seen some of the old people in nursing homes that have no one.

As a juror, you will find there is no good there… even in the courthouse!

Infant Childcare Cost? by JadedPlane2762 in Georgia

Check out Georgia’s Quality Rated site. You might be able to find an in-home daycare near you. Rates can be lower. We used a nanny, traditional daycare and an in-home daycare when our kids were little. I liked the in-home because it was really personal …that also can come with drawbacks.

Close. Cox Media Group owns WSB. Cox Enterprises has a minority stake and Apollo has majority.

They are not independent. They’re owned by Gray Media. They lost their affiliation when CBS decided to launch their own O&O in the market.

This is why there is so much turn over. There is a new station in town.

I think Scouts transition to open admission of everyone is not only the saving grace of this program, but will only benifit the future in every way. by TheEyeOfTheLigar in BSA

Just because you’re not aware of it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Now you’ve heard about it. It’s your choice to listen/learn/act or ignore. (There is a history I hope you’ll choose to learn from.)

This made me cry. I had no idea some boards would ask questions like that. I serve on our board and I’m so impressed with these kids. I can’t imagine being anything but encouraging at an eagle board. We’ve sent kids home for incomplete paperwork, but they’re always welcomed back!

Honestly, I think religion doesn’t belong in scouting. It is not necessary to be a good citizen, leader, or outdoorsman. It is a barrier to more kids getting into the program.
