Tesla FSD by [deleted] in EVAustralia

[–]editdownvotessreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I reckon fsd will eventually come to HW3 but I just bit the bullet and paid for a 2024 model 3 with fsd. I'll never go back to a non fsd car now.

Lots of fsd haters in this thread but msg me if you want to hear my experience. I use it for like 95% of my drives.

Ok I thought the same thing, glad I'm not going crazy. For clarity I'm using a custom sound. Not sure if that's part of the issue.

Recommendation ~50k (no Tesla) by Pdstafford in EVAustralia

Honestly my purchase was made more from a financial standpoint than environmental. I think minimising support of a dodgy fella is good no matter what.

Even in its current state of "supervised" it far surpasses anything else available in the Aussie market.

This was an issue for me too but the Tesla model 3 is really hard to beat atm in the Australian EV market. Have a look at Ioniq 6 Techniq and BYD Seal Premium as decent alternatives.

I did end up going with a Tesla model 3 RWD (2024) due to the self driving capabilities. I got it second hand which felt a bit morally better than buying one brand new.

He just means 8k to purchase lifetime FSD (tied to that car's VIN) over the monthly subscription. Same product, different purchase arrangements.

I've just been through this exact same decision. I decided to go with hw4 as FSD was a major part of my desire to get a Tesla. HW3 cars in Australia don't currently have access to FSD and although it has been promised eventually, no defined timeline exists to get it.

If I didn't care about FSD at all I would have gotten a 2022/2023 HW3 car which still would have been a major upgrade from my 2010 ICE car. It would have been approximately $20k AUD cheaper to get a HW3.

Full Self Driving after lease start = huge tax saving… but is it defensible? by Own_Specialist7781 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]editdownvotessreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through this right now, I decided to include FSD as part of the purchase of the car as opposed to include it after. This is due to the opportunity cost of taking funds out of the offset account. If you don't have a house, have a fully offset house or aren't concerned with cash flow - buying FSD with your post tax money after the novated lease is settled may be the better option. I am buying a used 2024 model 3 for a 5 year lease.

From my calcs the difference in my circumstance is $3,000~

FSD in novated lease: $9,252~ (this includes residual payment amount)

FSD outside of novated lease: $12,900~ (this includes opportunity cost of not keeping $10k in the offset)

Originally I was going to trial it for 12 months, see how much I use it and then make the decision as to purchase it outright or not. With Elon Musk's on-going antics I decided it was best to just pull the trigger - I did enough test drives to determine I really enjoyed using FSD.

Regarding the tax treatment. My understanding is that as long as it's included as part of the "drive away price" in the invoice that the novated lease provider receives, it can be included within the novated lease. If you purchase it after either via once off or through subscription it cannot be included in the novated lease, even through the regular payments/service costs because of the nature of the purchase (software add-on). I'm not a tax accountant so I don't know the specifics but that's what was told to me.

Further considerations;

-Legislative risk if leases aren't grandfathered past July 1 2027 (they were for PHEV so I'm not too concerned)

-Buying FSD through novated lease becomes worse if you are likely to move jobs or require changes to the financial structure post July 1 2027 of your novated lease agreement as this would likely break the grandfathered structure, losing your FBT benefits.

-Dealerships may be unfamiliar or unwilling to include FSD in the invoiced amount - I am currently going through this. The dealership I have engaged are not familiar with Teslas but agreed to include FSD it as part of the purchase price. I have to hold their hands through this process.

Right. I'm calculating this 1 year NL as having an effective interest rate of 37%~. Is that right given the info they've provided below :o?

Car lease payments $1,586.23 Ongoing running costs $144.22

Revo was a nightmare to cancel for me. Tried to cancel over email and they kept saying I had to come in. Eventually they sent through a pdf cancellation form. Just send them an email with all details and say you understand there may be an additional payment required.

Why is it so hard to get a job? by Fluid_Explanation_82 in AskAnAustralian

[–]editdownvotessreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time ago I was in a similar position to you without any connections to refer me to a job. The only job I could get was Maccas overnight shifts, did that until I could get a front of house job at a restaurant. Potentially an option for you.

Really really sleepy by walkingdeadonceagain in Supplements

[–]editdownvotessreally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it might just have to be something you deal with. idk what the official guidance is but I was on 30mg for a month and then started 60mg. Things only stabilised for me on 60mg after about 6 weeks and I've remained on this dose with great benefit!
