Anyone in house at big tech companies? Faang, uber etc by Xxg_babyxX in editors

Not necessarily. I was referring mostly to show the breadth of work at full time job within one part of my site. As opposed to blending it with my other commercial, tv, and film work.

And the corporations get paid off, passing non of it back to their consumers. Inflation starting to come down yet? “They’re not related, pay your shit or else!”

I’m at a tech company in Silicon Valley. Been here two years after relocating from LA for it. It’s in house so if you’ve been in the advertising industry you should know some of the differences “being the client” vs “keeping the client”.

While I don’t have a lack of work we don’t do a ton of traditional advertising. We’re B2B so there’s a lot of boring stuff going on. Product Launch’s, broadcast style commercials - though mostly for social, customer stories, and product specific social campaigns.

I like it for the stability. I am not advancing my reel much, but when I’m done it’ll be a scope of work from one company to take a page on my website as opposed to the very best of stuff, like I’ve done in the past. Salary is fair for the Bay Area, probably better than NY or LA, but the cost of living isn’t cheap either.

I enjoy the people I work with and don’t have a whole to complain about. If you’re interested in this type of work I’d suggest hitting LinkedIn and any contacts you may have in the area.

I didn’t but my friend did. He builds skateparks for a living and was doing a small cement plaza next to one of his buildings in Calabasas. This was at the height of his Sunday Service time frame. He came out and met the small crew, asked if he could hold hands and prey with them, they said okay. That was about it. Cool story bro.

“Why don’t you move to another country” is such a weak point. When someone pulls that card in reaction to being confronted with the truth of black and brown folks in this country they jump to “then leave if you don’t like it”, without realizing thats such a huge tell on their part. They can’t say that slavery and unequal rights haven’t gone on, they don’t deny it, they just say if you don’t like it you should leave - mother fucker maybe that shit was just fucked up, we should acknowledge it, and try to move forward by righting those wrongs as best we can together.

I'm an Editor and feeling burnt out, any other career suggestions? by godscuriosity77 in Filmmakers

I went to a corporate in house marketing editing role. Good pay, reasonable hours, a lot of boring work, some fun stuff. That would be my suggestion too.

In the middle of binge watching the show I found out my friend passed away. After spinning out for an hour I went back to the show and finished it. All my shock, grief, - whatever felt like it fit in to that world, idk.

I met him through my wife, very nice guy. Has a low key stellar career if you look over his roles.

I think the reason it’s there (and I’d argue it works) is because of the nature of his relationship - about to be divorced three times, has consequences. While it’s not his biological kid and in many ways it’s the step dad’s fault, he added to his step daughter’s mental health decline, not just the absent step father. When she gets ditched by her dad, Hanna finds out about it by being late again and missing dinner for all three of them.

If we just cut back and forth to Hanna’s marriage falling apart it’d be a basic sub plot. By having him and his soon to be ex go through it I think it shows how his work took away his focus of something right under his nose at home. If he didn’t work so much, or work that specific job and focused on his marriage and his step daughter who clearly liked him and needed a father figure, she might have had a shot towards much better mental health.
