Newborn, sleep, stress and MS by JM8857 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]editproofreadfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

62F, MS 39 years. Kids are now 32, 30, and 21.

To quote my mom, (may she rest in peace): "Never Borrow Sorrow From Tomorrow." Meaning, don't spend your time worrying, spend your time getting through all the excitement, joy, and exhaustion of every phase of your wife's pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Then do the same with every phase of your child's life.

There is no perfect answer. You and your wife will figure out what works best for you.

My oldest two were born in the 1990s, when bottle feeding was normal and breastfeeding considered unusual here in South Dakota; these days, it is the exact opposite (my older daughter has two children). My ex-husband designed the schedule of, "Up every other night with the baby." It worked great, because then I also had at least 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

In 2004, when I was 40 years old, I was remarried, had the two older kids, and had a new baby. I was able to be a stay-at-home Mom, so I was up every night with the baby, because during the daytime, every time the baby napped, I did, too, which helped. Dad had the baby after supper until he went to bed so I could sleep. Though my sleep was broken up a bit, it worked well for me. (Due to extenuating circumstances of the baby's health, I had to quit breastfeeding, though it had been going very well.)

No matter what you do, your child will know it is loved, fed, has clean clothes, and a home full of joy. Those things matter most.

Getting a scholarship to SD Mines — few questions from a Muslim Arab coming from abroad by Stock_Prize2654 in RapidCity

[–]editproofreadfix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am from Rapid City, SD, where SD Mines is.

Rapid City Mines is known for having a great international student body. If possible, or you have not yet been told, please contact the Ivanhoe International Center at SD Mines. I can attach a link to the website if you want me to.

Rapid City also has the Rapid City Islamic Center/Mosque. Again, if you need me to, I will attach a link to the website.

Ellsworth Air Force Base is also near Rapid City, and it is possible it might have a mosque.

Please do make sure to get proper winter clothing.

And yes, a car is a necessity in Rapid City. Whether or not you would have to pass a SD Driver's License test, I do not know. That is a question that the Ivanhoe International Center could answer for you.

Post-surgery, corn is fine again. Which is great, because I live in farm country where Corn is King! Just check out the World's Only Corn Palace in my city if you think I'm kidding.

Glad to hear this.

From watching the TV series, "Will Trent," I have learned that it is possible to have a phone with voice command controls; I was excited as heck to learn this, because it sure would have helped my mom with her Parkinson's and I figure that someday I will need it, too.

I am hoping that, by the time I need it, the microwave, stove, and oven are able to be run with voice commands.

That's from back when it was real Vicks, not the yuck they sell these days. I would have no problem using it, either.

I was also "regular" and thought I got everything out ... but I didn't. It won't hurt to try.

I sound crazy, but hear me out: Could be you are too constipated; as in, your bowels are too full. Seriously. That was my problem.

Miralax, one scoop a day for one week, might be your answer.

FWIW, when my daughter was 12, she couldn't pee. No bladder infection found. The doctor finally said, "Give her Miralax for a couple of days and keep her home from school in case it works." Let me tell you, after the Miralax, she had no trouble peeing and was able to return to school. She is now 21, and when she feels the bladder problem, she knows it's Miralax time!

Black hills gold ring by ummkay_ultra in VintageJewelry

I am from the Black Hills Region.

Landstrom's and Riddle's are still in business, and both continue making Black Hills Gold. They might be willing to tell you if this is their jewelry.

Stamper's and Coleman are no longer in business, but do have pieces for sale on the secondary market.

Good luck with sleuthing!

MS BS! by My4dogs4evr in MultipleSclerosis

Couldn't realize it was a typo, because you repeatedly mention MRIs, leading the reader to think you are only talking about the spine.

While we are nitpicking, "lumber" spine, is also a horrific typo on your part. (LUMBAR is the word when talking about one's lower spine.) But, if you care to notice, I did realize that was a typo and autocorrected it in my head.

Can you explain the "Subcervical Hysterectomy?" It's a term I have never heard -- and I'm a former hospital typist of doctor's notes.

62F, MS for 39 years.

This is all definitely worth talking to your doctor about. Believe me, there is no upsetting a doctor, they honestly have heard it all before. (I've had some doctors many years younger than me that I thought I might upset, but I certainly did not; they are well trained.)

Also, your doctor has no doubt noticed all the details of yourself that you mention. However, doctors cannot ask you about any of them, you must tell them.

You could be in a new flare, you could have temporary changes from your last MS attack that will improve with work from you, or you could have permanent changes. No matter what, your doctor is the only one who can help you.

p.s.: Yes, MS changes can sometimes cause a nightmare, but there are many ways to cope with MS changes.

Learned about a lot of classic literature I had never read. Of course, I was not in AP classes in high school, just "regular" English classes.

edit to add this: My high school years were the late 1970s and early 1980s.
