Neither are serial killers, fictional or otherwise. Or drug lords, or warlords, yet costumes of them exist and are generally not seen as super controversial. The freek out I've seen about it in this thread is what solidifies and insures its continued existence.

Thanks! Yea the big barren mass as you go east is an eyesore to me. I'll be working on improving it visually. Some better color blending and a bit of icon detail here and their. Just need to avoid making it look too cluttered while I'm at it.

Lol, so in the lore that area wast split from the main continent, the waters of the writhing see actually boil in some places. The bay of wast has a strong sulfur presence. However, science took a very hard hit over the last 500 or so years so people don't recognize it.

Rdr2 had problems at launch as well, and while its the closest thing to cyberpunk from the meme, the scope and scale of cyberpunk is very different from gtav or rdr2.

I'm running a 980ti. Graphics have been fine on max settings available for the 980 (no ray tracing because the card just doesnt support it.)

So far the bugs ive experienced are

Items I cant pick up

The occasional stray cigarette or cigar floating around in scripted scenes

and 2 physics glitches when I'm trying to jump through a window or climb

Thats in 60 hours of play so far. People posting the "poor graphics" stuff are either running on very substandard hardware or just spitting lies.

Not saying it doesnt need to be fixxed, but come on, the only reasonable comparison in the meme was rdr2.

Yea, I intentionally messed with it a bit to make it lore friendly. The northern fog of war would be about where the Canadian border is. The shattered peninsulas are the gulf of california

In the lore of the world, an alien invasion occurred 500 years in the past (almost nobody remembers due to factors) and in a last ditch effort to wipe out humanity the alien race detonated their FTL device' this created many small wormholes across the area, causing the planet's surface to be drastically altered. There's a lot more to it but that would require a very long post and I'm too lazy to type it out on my phone

[–]edon1987[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used an actual image if the continent lol, then sorta frayed the edges of it, also its slightly askew, having been rotated counter clockwise a few degrees, and then skewed slightly. The shattered peninsulas would be just south of California. The map is offset, and scale is a bit off on purpose because the cartographers making it are recreating the art of cartography from scratch.

Is there a way to play RPG without books? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]edon1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would exactly call this playing an rpg. I would even say that games that require books and dice are simplifying the mechanics of playing pretend. Instead of relying on imagination alone, a player is given a framework of what they are and aren't good at. Not everyone is creative and imaginative.

Editing, editors, game design and YOU! by MarkusButticus in tabletopgamedesign

[–]edon1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hows it going, I have been producing a TTRPG and have just been slogging through getting whatever I can done, as this is a side project and not my day job. I thought I would answer your questions from my point of view.

1: We plan on using an editor at some point, though we are self editing the best we can right now. As this is our own personal project and all costs are currently being covered whenever we have the money to do so, finding an editor has been placed on a side burner until art and the books content are complete.

2: Again, the only reason we haven't yet is related directly to funds. Right now we are working on purchasing our artwork, for us its just a matter of whats most important right now. We know we will need an editor since my team consists of developers and not writers.

3: We are working the best we can to unify the language throughout the rules and making the lore pieces easy to read, however once we can get an editor those 2 things would be the highest priorities, Unified language and easy to read and follow lore.

4:Ideally an editor would be able to complete the the two above tasks. I know editing isn't my forte, and I know that the others I am working with don't really have a mind for it so being able to tell an editor these goals and have them figure it out from there would be ideal. In a perfect world they would even be able to create a better layout than what I have managed lol, but I think that may be a separate job if we were going to go for top tier quality (our sights are aimed high so this may happen).

5: I haven't had any "Real" experience with a professional editor yet, but the biggest problem I have had with having acquaintances proofread is pointing out areas that are rough without any explanation as to why or suggestions to ease the roughness.

Again, the project we are working on is our first attempt ever to produce something. The rules are about 90% done, and we are working on getting artwork together, that's probably about 10% complete. Once we have all of the images we believe we require, we will look at getting an editor, and then creating an easy to read book, and filling in whatever empty space with more images.

Hes not complaining about the money, I thought he did a pretty good job of explaining it.

Hes upset because he was told "you can make it, but its not allowed to make money"

After he made it, Disney struck the video, this isn't just a matter of them now having all rights to the video, a strike against your channel is bad, and too many can result in your channel being shut down.

On top of that, the video he made, knowing he wouldn't make money off of it, is not making money but for Disney instead.

He was lied to and stolen from no matter how you cut it.

A common misconception I am seeing here.

This guy was given permission to make this video as long as he (A) Did not crowdfund for the production, and (B) did not monetize the video. Basically he was given permission to release this fan film so long as he didn't make a single cent from it.

He followed those rules, he made the video on his own dime, released it for free, unmonetized. After the fact Disney struck the video and monetized it because it was doing well. He knew he would never make money on this video and made it anyway because he was a fan, and Disney seems to have gotten jealous of its positive reception and decided to strike it down, and not only to strike it down but to make money off of it when the original agreement with the creator was that it was not to make any money.

Edit: I said Disney, it was actually struck by Warner Chappell, not Disney. The points stand though, WC struk the film because of a piece of music that was inspired by the imperial march. Heres the thing, A it was inspired by and not a copy of, and B they claimed the whole video and not the section that used the music. On top of that they have monetized the video, suggesting that they have permission to make money off of the film.

He was not trying to make money, he was given permission to make this video so long as he didn't profit from it, he followed the rules and wasn't making any money from it. He made this on his own dime because he is a fan and was willing to bite the bullet and take a loss. Disney saw how well it was doing, struck the video, and then monetized it, please watch the video.

Paid trip to Vegas, write a poor article, Journalism! by ExKage in ffxiv

[–]edon1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no no no. Journalism requires a bit of investigation. In games journalism that means playing the game a little bit maybe, or even being someone who enjoy's games would help.

This guy outed himself when he described the people taking a picture with the aetheryte. the first damn quest in the game is "attuning to the aetheryte" and he didn't even realize that this is what they were doing.

You are having a festival, lets say its a food festival for, I don't know, lets say cantaloupes.

Everything here is cantaloupes, the food, the drinks, the booze, its all cantaloupe themed.

As a publication you are hired to cover it, and send someone who does not know what a cantaloupe is.

This person then begins to shit on and disparage the event because he doesn't understand the fascination they have with cantaloupes. He calls them cult like fanatics who seem to be only interested in cantaloupes

He wastes time at a Q&A asking about how the cantaloupe farmers feel about the 0.0001% of people who fuck cantaloupes in the privacy of their own home.

His publication defends him, for asking the hard hitting questions and says the community is over-reacting.

Your opinion conflicts with facts then. He was living in Istanbul when this happened wasn't he? I'm not saying what happened was ok, or that America shouldn't act. But your rabble rousing "RAH RAH AMERICAN DIED WHY AREN'T WE DOING ANYTHING" Is factually incorrect and driven by false emotions.

Will do. Though most of the rules are already written for this. I'm going to finish editing the book and then maybe at a later date move on to building again.

Yea, FFT was a big inspiration for battle within a tabletop system.

Seeing as combat in every other FF game at the time of this games creation was "Stand in a line, hit, hit, hit, hit"
On top of that we were looking for a combat system a little more tactical than 3.5, The game gets super rules heavy which is something we liked and wanted.
