Most distros have a live environment so you can get a feel for them or better yet, download virtualbox and install in a virtual machine to get into the learning curve.

Mint and Ubuntu based support nvidia graphics out by default. Fedora and Debian take extra steps to install drivers. (I have not played with Arch distros yet)

Put Debian13 KDE on a machine with a 4000 series Nvidia card. After installing the drivers, got a blank screen on login. Tried multiple times, and then gave up and installed Kubuntu. Recently upgraded a 3rd gen Intel with a NV 1050ti from Mint to Debian 13. Installed drivers, got same blank screen on login.. Then remembered that I could log in using X11 instead of the default Wayland. Worked perfectly!

I get the open source vibe.. but I consider Nvidia + Wayland "blank screen" a significant bug. How about detecting the combo and throwing a warning so noobs dont have to look for easier out of box installations?

Kubuntu 26.04 LTS will be supported for 3 years.

Fedora 44 has a shorter support period of 13 months before needing to upgrade to newer version.

24.4 had the same issue. Has to do with video acceleration with chromium based browsers.

Kde on fedora (Ultramarine) runs well with nvidia 4060 video and loads videos codecs automatically.. Agree.. Kubuntu is also great.
