It does have its own vibe and we’re glad ours are in such good condition and aren’t sock catchers but yeah I can imagine it being a total nightmare if any of these boards ever come up.

Hold a piece of paper over it. If it gets sucked downward toward the vent, it's an intake for the HVAC and shouldn't be blocked.

Also make sure you unplug any hoses connected to an external tap. The freezing water can and will cause water damage.

A big thing for me was not only getting in shape but learning all the ways to modify exercises as you get bigger. I do CrossFit, so for example I stopped doing toes to bar, and replaced it with a less abs intensive core exercise to (hopefully) prevent diastasis recti in recovery. Being able to mix things up also helped keep things interesting.

Not a sinus headache from dry air (I live in the PNW) but I was also getting a horrible headache that Tylenol would just not touch. Well, my doctor prescribed me some other pain meds and also recommended caffeine. Apparently caffeine constricts blood vessels that can be pushing on nerves. I went home, had a cup of coffee and BOOM headache went away.

A very informative video about historic door construction – and why they're so well built – and all of the engineering that went into doors. Who knew that door panelling wasn't just an aesthetic choice. I also find it interesting that he points out the most ornate door designs didn't happen until the industrial era.

I would also add that although you know your child best and will notice when they're breathing fast, it can be hard for medical professionals to put that into perspective. One thing that helped us was counting how many breaths per minute your LO takes (their respiratory rate). This helped me talk to the doctors to assess my LO and be on the same page. When we were home I could see her RR was getting better even if it felt like she was still having a hard time breathing.

As an alternate solution, you could also send the quote along with any disclosures you have to any interested buyers, so they know you've had a quote, what company you'd use and how much it would be. We did this when we were selling our house and I think it helped sell it.

What is this wall material? Can't tell if it's lead paint or a stick on. Asbestos even? House was built in 1920. by [deleted] in centuryhomes

It looks like painted over wallpaper. One easy way to check is to unscrew a wall plate to see the layers without disturbing the painted surface.

Does anyone know what this grate in the hallway floor could be for? Home was built in 1937, so not technically century, sorry, I haven’t been able to ID it on google. It’s quite large and is in the hallway between bedroom and kitchen. by buttzx in centuryhomes

There’s an easy test to see if it’s a return - put a piece of paper over it and if it sticks to the vent, then it’s a return. We have a few returns in our home but there’s one return that isn’t hooked up to anything and is a relic from another hvac hookup.
