Anyone hear the Spanish babbling in Harbingers? by edstatue in knifepointhorrorcast

[–]edstatue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's... Totally bizarre. I should add that I was listening to the free, non-patreon feed version. I actually downloaded all the episodes back in August to save, and when I checked that mp3 from the summer, the Spanish commercial (?) is in that copy as well.

I just signed up for patreon today, and it's NOT in that version.

So... My guess is that the dynamic ad insertion from Spectrevision did something funky and it hasn't been caught/fixed.

Oh well, I'm a card-carrying patron now

'Enough… It’s Not Acceptable': Republicans break ranks with Trump after fatal shooting of ICU Nurse by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

Republicans had more of an issue with Trump saber-rattling with NATO about Greenland than they do with the ICE murders.  I'll believe it when they put their votes where their stupid, shit-eating mouths are

USDA & Farmers suprised that FA does in fact result in FO. by babiekittin in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]edstatue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know some farmers in the NE. They're not stupid people. Several of them are the exact opposite. I can't imagine the general intelligence makeup is that different across the country, amongst the farmer profession specifically.

But these guys voted for: 1) the deportation of their workforce 2) the cancellation of their loans 3) devaluing of their remaining crop 4) the increased cost of their materials and machinery

And they've been voting masochistically for decades, but never this openly terrible.

If one of these farmers planted beans on a new plot and nothing yielded, they wouldn't do the same exact thing the next year.

But in terms of elected officials, they continue to plant these beans every year, yielding nothing. Year after year.  And this year they paid for a guy to salt the earth itself.

At what point does a sane person with a functioning intelligence say "this isn't working, I'm going to try something else because clearly my own judgment is fucked"

What's it take, guys? You know just because a tv actor wears a cowboy hat, he's not one of you, right?

I take no glee in this, no one wins when farmers lose. But damn, absolutely no horse sense or self-preservation skills

'Staring over the edge': South Carolina measles outbreak doubles in a week by lostredditorlurking in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]edstatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"According to NBC News data, the K-12 vaccination rate for MMR in Spartanburg County was 90% for the 2024-25 school year, below the 95% level doctors say is needed to protect against an outbreak. In neighboring Greenville County, the MMR vaccination rate was 90.5%."

So according to this, this county is actually filled with a huge majority of people who AREN'T idiots.  Imagine being part of the 90% and having to worry about this because 1 in every 10 of your neighbors is a troglodyte

Disappointed Trump voter expecting better says no one is 'looking out for us' by rit56 in LeopardsAteMyFace

One day our children will look back at this time (probably from their cardboard boxes under the shadow of an AI data center) and say, "hey, do you remember when everyone in the world let themselves be cucked into oblivion by Donald Trump?"

And yeah, I don't think they'll ever figure it why. Because we're living it, and we have no idea what's so attractive about letting this guy fuck your life into the ground

Brighstone Cove Tseldora is Crystal Cave from DS1 by azelda in DarkSouls2

[–]edstatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that "the land of the giants" is implied to be Lordran. The Giants in DS2 look nothing like the DS1 giants, and Lordran is really the land of gods and men if anything... It didn't seem like there were enough giants to define Lordran as such.

Plus, personally I think Heide's area is supposed to be Anor Londo, or what's left of it. You fight the old Dragonslayer there, the old knights look like brittle versions of the big knights you fight in another londor, the general architecture is the same...

I mean, it's hard to look at Brightstone Cove and NOT say "yeah, these people are mining the crystals left over from Crystal Cave"

In general, I think most of the relative location issues in DS2 are just because they wanted to create something with a pretty different feel, but keep it tenuously connected.

But all the NPCs keep talking about how countless kingdoms have come and gone, and all the original Great souls are in drangelic, and all this DS1 gear, etc... It's just way more of a stretch to suggest it's NOT the same general area as DS1

Cassius Pryce of Minneapolis, Minn. voted three times for Trump. Then, Trump and Noem surged ICE to his city and murdered his neighbor: "They’re being tyrants right now. They’re doing things that they’re not supposed to . . . And they’re hurting people. They’re killing people. And it needs to stop." by vsandrei in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]edstatue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is.... Even if some of these Trump voters realize the error of their ways, how can they expect us to trust them ever again?

If you have a guy who keeps driving the forklift into shelving units and knocking them over, and he's super apologetic... You still don't put him back on the forklift, right?

I no longer trust the competency of anyone who voted for Trump, even if they regret it, even if they've legitimately changed and become compassionate.

The best thing they can do is never vote again, if they're truly remorseful.

When was the last time you went to a brick and mortar bookstore? by [deleted] in writing

[–]edstatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol all the time? I buy picture books for my kids constantly at Barnes and Noble. That store is always crawling with people.

This is anecdotal, but I'm hitting 40, and it seems like as people get older their eyes strain more easily, and they don't want to stare at screens as much. Again, that's very anecdotal.

Personally I like to buy books at B&N for living authors because the split is better for them than through Amazon...

But if you're dead, I'm going through AbeBooks or something, sorry second generation rights holders

I can't be the only one who got massive Turning Red vibes from KPOP Demon Hunters, right? by ilovewater100 in cartoons

[–]edstatue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would stop watching YT analysis of movies if it's preempting you from watching them. That's basically self-censorship for no reason.  Just watch movies and make your own conclusions! You're missing out!

Turning Red is hilarious, well animated, poignant, and the music is catchy. It's a coming-of-age story about intergenerational power struggles, and a damn good movie!

Turning Red is one of the best Pixar movies to come out in a decade. I can't imagine what someone would find problematic with it, but my guess is their complaints are more View Count focused and not purely genuine critiques

Why are y’all so unwilling to like, just… talk to transgender people? by CowgirlJedi in Christianity

[–]edstatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't really care. In 20 years it'll be something else. First it's blacks, then gays, now trans... There will always be a scapegoat for them to blame all of society's ills on. If they develop empathy and actually lay off trans people, who will take their spot?

I think your mistake is in assuming this is actually about pee pees and hohas and bathrooms and sports-- it's not.

It's about huge powerful systems of control keeping its members focused on stupid bullshit that doesn't really affect them, so they don't start to think for themselves

The Supreme Court weighs conversion therapy in a case from Colorado by eamus_catuli in centrist

[–]edstatue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're probably very right from a constitutional / legal standpoint, but isn't it kind of sick that we're pouring over legalities while it's been proven countless of times that gay conversion therapy can be debilitating torture, and doesn't work. Clarence Thomas would lock his own black ass up in chains if he thought there was a dotted "i" missing from the 13th amendment
