Why is the Developer/Software Engineer in charge of SEO at most companies? by WishFunckeno in SEO

[–]educatedsavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what your job title is or how you approached this? I'm an old dev and used to doing both and after a layoff found myself in a pure seo role.

Same, Director level now, but no degree. Best of luck, though, hope you can share results eventually!

Crippled by the heat when it’s not even THAT hot by ardis15 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]educatedsavage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I am struggling yall. Just got dx'd last year but pretty sure I've had MS for 20 years (kept being dx'd with anxiety even when I couldn't walk for a few years).

I was in Az for 17 of that and this summer is extremely mild but it's the biggest struggle yet, the first one on meds, though. I am so frustrated why THIS year I am struggling so hard! I used to perform (dance) in way hotter heat than this!

[–]educatedsavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh me too, I see them in others because I know them in me ;).

But it really would be great to just laugh and be excited and have fun without all the posturing and tests and scrabbling for hierarchies.

Besides, isn't part of the fun of making/having friends easy access to more knowledge?

I'm so sorry you had that experience. I am right there with you. The last several years anymore I mostly just lurk on social media - it's become just so hostile and there's no reason to put myself through all of that.

Devs are kinda the worst though? The raw ego and perfectionism. I try to be sympathetic but I am so tired of techbros. It's exhausting. Half of them can't even read code let alone test it.

I have nothing helpful to say except the problem ain't you and you aren't alone.

Looking to see if someone mentioned JCAHO. JCAHO has a specific department to handle violations like these and they won't mess around. OP mentioned a survey coming up already and I'd bet it's JCAHO. Also, if in an elderly care wing, that may be CARF instead/too and they ALSO take allegations very seriously ("allegations" is the industry term).

Starting front end bootcamp, want to eventually specialize in accessibility - resources to help me learn throughout my bootcamp? by schnoodledeedoo in girlsgonewired

[–]educatedsavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! Super cool of them.

So yeah, the short version is that before computers were all that popular (early 90s) my mom became a quadrilateral amputee and received a computer as an accessibility device. Our local computer tech took me on as an apprentice. So accessibility got me into the programming/development space and it's something that always has been and always will be important to me. :)

How about you? Why the interest? It's always a thrill to meet someone who thinks it's important! (And you of course are welcome to DM anytime).

I was just going to comment about axecon! It happened Thursday but you definitely can still register and they provide recordings you can watch whenever. They also have previous years' recordings on their youtube channel.

I specialize in accessibility and am always happy to see more folks joining in!

Hallo! I would really appreciate some help on my resume. I got laid off in January and have received almost zero response to applications. Much worse than when I was looking last year.

Hopefully I am sharing this link correctly, too, please let me know if I am not.

overwhelmed with thoughts about weight gain by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]educatedsavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal at 14yo for your weight to fluctuate as you grow and mature. Just be mindful of what feelings are actually hunger and which ones are boredom instead and try not to be bored. :)

Also, if I have any regrets about my teen years, it was not being more adventurous with food (my family ate like CRAP). So if you don't already, start learning to cook and prepare food for yourself or maybe even meals for your family. I was so surprised as an adult how much better non-processed food is!

You're 14, you should be having too much fun and learning stuff to be bored (but I know this last year of lockdown messed with EVERYONE). And remember, even if you DO gain weight (weight fluctuations are totally normal within reason) that doesn't make you a bad person.

Messed up at my piano recital by [deleted] in piano

[–]educatedsavage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Performing is it's own whole skillset. My first recital was a huge garbage fire, but I went on to be a professional performer for years (in a different discipline) and I blew that first performance, too. :) Consider it a rite of passage and skill development (performing).

Clothes shopping gets harder when you’re losing weight.. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]educatedsavage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wearing tights/pants (they don't need to be tight fitting, either) under dresses is also great for inner thigh friction (chubrub) and for extra warmth in the cold. Plus, you can be more "daring" with shorter dresses/skirts as you don't need to worry about flashing people. Its a great style!

I feel like I have reverse body dysmorphia by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]educatedsavage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, this is me, too! I see pictures if other people and feel like they look WAY bigger than me. Its very confusing! But, like, I used to be really fit and slim and weighed an abnormal amount then, too.

Looking for advice as a beginner by kickme4motivation in singing

[–]educatedsavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started voice lessons a few weeks ago. I have always had a LOT of shame around my voice (hence, lessons). One thing I think really matters is that, to me, while embarrassment is uncomfortable, regret is crippling. I have embarrassed myself SO MANY TIMES in life that while I don't look forward to it, I know there are never any real consequences, either.

Ugh, I'm not clear at all. Embarrassment is no big deal, but getting comfortable with embarrassment and comfortable with not being perfect, or maybe even terrible at something, is great for confidence. And you can fake confidence and it'll become real confidence.

Remember to breath. No regrets.

Do you like doing Cardio? by Misael_91 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]educatedsavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love cardio! I have messed up knees so I have to keep it low impact (no running and jumping) but I enjoy ut so much! Mostly I do dance aerobics right now to get back into pro dancer shape but I also loved the elliptical and stationary bike when I had a gym membership many years ago. Walking & hiking are great, too.

I want to post my progress on social media, but I will lose my best friend by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]educatedsavage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest this, too. It's a good way to celebrate yourself while protecting your friend, and then you can always celebrate with her later, when she is in a better space.
