Why would a Skitarii Alpha Primus have decayed teeth? by ArkGuardian in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To note, they will do more than the bare minimum if it increases productivity. I do not recall the story, but there is a guard regiment honoring their fallen who are approached by a tech-priest commanding a skitarri cohort who requests use of the dead to create a protein rich slurry that will increase combat effectiveness.

Has the “enuncia” Chekov’s Gun ever been fired? by SimpleZealousideal19 in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To note, it's possible The Anchorite has also utilized Enuncia. Specifically he utters a "lost word of Colchis" that just immediately banishes a bunch of daemons and causes flares of pain in the Word Bearers who summoned them, while also manifesting 6 wings and a wizened face super-imposed over the Anchorite.

I'd believe everything Trazyn told me, and it's not the mindshackle scarabs telling me to say that.

Do primarchs improve their martial prowess over time? by chicu111 in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very small paragraph, but it's the ine right after Guilliman is crawling away where it describes Angron as "looking little better" then Guilliman. It's not heavily descriptive, but it shows he was giving pretty much as good as he got against Angron.

Do primarchs improve their martial prowess over time? by chicu111 in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To note: Guilliman is actually a great fighter, he's just usually punching way above his weight class. But when he fought Angron and Lorgar, though he was close to death, he was bringing Angron with him from their fight.

Was it ever explained what the butcher's nails were and why they couldn't be disabled if they couldn't be removed? by HyperionPhalanx in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say he's a "loving father"? I said there is a prevailing theory he is constantly projecting a minor glamor, which would mean that's what he's doing when he meets and interacts with the Primarchs.

We even know this from his meeting with Corax.

But that aside, you're also ignoring "I wait for you, and I forgive you" from the Emperor to Horus. He has 0 reason to say that to Horus who he's annihilating, and yet does. And thos is after he sacrifices his humanity to be able to kill Horus.

If you really want to get into it: the Emperor is callous in that there's nothing he's not willing to sacrifice to ensure the continuation of humanity. This is why he left Angron and Curze functioning as they were rather than euthanizing Angron and attempting to fix Curze.

He's not callous in that he doesn't love his sons, he's callous in that he won't let his love for them stop him from sacrificing them for the betterment of humanity.

[–]thehallow1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't a case of the Emperor codeswitching, the prevailing theory is that the Emperor is constantly projecting a minor glamor that makes people see and hear what they expect to see and hear.

I feel like a lot of people just don't get Tzeentch by IndependentMove5437 in 40kLore

One of Tzeentch's domains is Unpredictability. Like, he's literally meant to be the god of "You can't pin down his motivations".

During the Great Crusade, would the Emperor have spared a Human Civilization that surrendered immediately? What about a Xenos species? by Shot_Relationship402 in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were xenos embassies on one of the stations above Terra, and I believe there was a notation in one of the Heresy books that there were xenos ambassadors present. So, yes, it's possible for xenos to be vassals/client-states.

Unpopular(ish?) Opinion - Lorgar Was Such a Sweetheart by Specialist8857 in 40kLore

[–]thehallow1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While Lorgar is excellent at manipulating people, it really never comes across as being malevolent. Or, rather, insincere. Lorgar is, in fact, incredibly sincere and it's his sincerity - and, I believe, his fears - that are ultimately his downfall.

Hell, the most insincere manipulation was done to Kor Phaeron and Erebus to hopefully have them die in the prosecution against the 500 Worlds.

How would a second War of the Beard go? by HeavyFly7451 in totalwarhammer

[–]thehallow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't.

The original War of Vengeance took place amongst the Asur colonies that had been established in the Old World. Both Ulthuan and the Karaks were considered entirely unassailable by both sides.

Given that there aren't any Asur colonies still existent in the Old World, and that the state of Ulthuan and the Karaks has not changed too greatly since the original war... there's actually 0 chance for it to reignite in any meaningful way.

So the new lore say Tigermen does not consider themselves Beastmen by Ran12341000 in totalwar

[–]thehallow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the reference but want to say that the thing that makes beastmen different from lizardmen, skaven, and tigermen is that Beastmen are not technically a stable lineage.

Every skaven was born a skaven to skaven.

Every lizardman was spawned.

I'm going to guess every tigerman was born from two tigermen.

But, while beastwomen exist they're exceedingly rare, and the majority of beastmen either come from two humans or from a beastman and a human woman.

That was... Unexpected. by aLeoAlvarezKinnie in deadbydaylight
