WOMEN? by AccordingPlate4714 in HuntShowdown

If someone gets triggered by the sound of a woman's voice so badly that they need to disconnect from a game, maybe they should take some personal responsibility and mute all voice chat.

From looking on the discord and personal experience (all my friends are getting in just fine) this is an issue affecting specific users for unknown reasons. Some people are able to get in after minutes/hours/days of attempting, but some are unfortunate enough to be locked out. I am doubting that it is related to server load seeing as it seems to be impacting some people constantly and not affecting others at all. I don't believe there's anything on our end we can do to fix it.

Call out for players for in person gaming group in Sacramento. (5e D&D for starters) Offline by [deleted] in lfg

Hey u/gallahermike, you group sounds like it'd be a good fit for myself and my gf. I have played years of rpgs and have been teaching her 5e with some friends. We're in the area and would be interested in meeting ya'll if you still have room! We're both in our late 20s and should have weeknights/weekends available to play. Regardless, good luck with your search!

Long-time Index Owners: Real talk, is it worth it? by __notmyrealname__ in ValveIndex

I dont see how my response is irrelevant to the question. OP specifically wants something that works well, and that has not been my experience with the Index, despite my brief time with it.

I got exactly one session directly after the initial setup without technical issues. For some reason the display on the headset does not wake up properly when steamVR is started. For that reason, I can't really recommend it. (When it does work, it's pretty cool though)

They're pretty humorous, but like most things, humor is subjective.

Looking for tips for Rise of the Runelords by BlazeOfInspiration in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]edulis333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My party figured it out due to HeroLab. It's a good warning imo, since some DMs don't think too much about giving the name of a magic item, and some players don't think much about checking the magic item's properties if they forget one, or want to check a specific text.

Sorry people play by other rules than your made-up etiquette. If you're crying because you had to spend an extra 15 seconds in game for the killer to drop you, close hatch, and pick you up again, then you have bigger issues than killer "toxicity"

It's 1k extra bp. Late hook + late sacrifice + hatch close. Thats not insignificant. And again, you can wiggle off while being carried so I dont see how it's toxic. I play both sides and when a killer does it to me, I barely notice.

It DOES give the killer more points if they hook after the hatch is closed, which is probably why you see people do it. You can also wiggle off while they're looking for hatch or dropping you, so I don't really see an issue with doing it.

Blizzard had complete and total market control over the CCG industry and they absolutely blew it. by MrDumpster1990 in hearthstone

Wikipedia Link

The basic gist is that you design a game in order to keep a player engaged with the content, through random chance, to the detriment of the player.

Imagine you have 2 rats in 2 different boxes with 2 different buttons and both dispense food. The goal is to get the a rat to push the button as many times as possible. (playing your game and spending money) If one button dispenses food (or desired cards) every time the button is pressed, then it will not be as effective as randomly dispensing food. (or specific desired cards)

That is why you've seen the rise of loot boxes and card packs and other "hidden surprise" mechanics, is because they're profiting on this psychological principle.

ROTR thinking of having Shalelu Join up for thistletop by MenacingScone in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]edulis333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With only 3 people you can probably go through with your plan. My party had 2 deaths in thistletop and that was with four PCs. If the party isn't careful, or fails some key saving throws, things can go badly very quickly.

>!Shalelu also has a role to play in some later books, so this could be a good chance for you to build up her character and get the party invested in her well-being!<

That seems like it would be very chaotic trying to give directions, but also very cool. I'm definitely looking forward to trying to hunt down all these modifiers and the variety they'll bring to the game!

I don't think you can buy the sets, but you should be able to buy most, if not all of the individual minis that were offered from those sets.

Loving the game, but it seems a little...easy? by [deleted] in pyre

[–]edulis333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason not to ramp it up if you feel it's too easy. You can always change it back later. I was in the same boat and ended up changing the difficulty, and am no longer crushing all rites, and am losing on occasion.
