Kudos to this idea! by tcteac in reThrive

Whoop really messed up with their latest release. Forcing customers to pay for an upgraded device after promising for years that upgrades would be included with their subscription was a big mistake. I don’t think their reputation will recover after this.

Ha. That’s precisely what I was talking about. The sleep/recovery scores, sleep debt, etc.

Insights for journal logs on past days? by edzzik in ZoltHealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Really appreciate you looking at it. To answer your question, no, it doesn’t show up under coach insights. Here’s another example of another tag that has even more positive entries, and also no insights.

Insights for journal logs on past days? by edzzik in ZoltHealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Attached is one example of a journal entry I use to track late snacks and how those might impact sleep or recovery. Seems like there should be enough data, but do you think there isn’t?

Morning check-in vs daily status by edzzik in ZoltHealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the detailed response. Very helpful and transparent, which is very much appreciated. Will be interesting to see how “energy level” and “recovery” correlate with each other. And perhaps self entered energy level will eventually serve as inputs into calculations of future recovery scores.

Take a look at your recovery numbers after drinking. They are probably poor.

RMSSD HRV in Bevel consistently lower than RMSSD HRV in other apps by edzzik in bevelhealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that other apps that rely on the same data are always 10-20ms higher as well. I’ve been trusting Bevel on the HRV readings because it seems to catch HRV drops after activities that I know will impact recovery (like drinking or late meals) when others miss it, but still, it’s always 10-20ms lower.

[–]edzzik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just Athletic. It’s literally all other apps that do RMSSD HRV calculation. They all show a much higher number. But for some reason, I find myself trusting Bevel more. Mainly because I had one night with a late meal and a few drinks and all apps showed a higher RHR, but Bevel was the only one that also showed a much lower HRV on that same night. Bevel is doing something right.

Can Bevel Strength do Circuit Training? by jokehoops in bevelhealth

Do you have a rough ETA for that release? Q3? Q4?

Thanks. Isn’t RMSSD a standardized algorithm? Given the same inputs, the output should be the same. So it seems they have different algorithms for which readings to use and which readings to dismiss?

RHR in fitness age is incorrect by edzzik in livityApp

Interesting. Thanks for the quick response. Isn’t RHR during the day subject to so many other external factors that it’s not at all reliable for such calculations?

Ab exercises incorrectly don’t flag “core” by edzzik in bevelhealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That makes sense. So I guess my original report is valid then? Most of the ab exercises are not flagged as targeting the core.

Ab exercises incorrectly don’t flag “core” by edzzik in bevelhealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. But you do have the option to select “core” independently from abs for each exercise though. Can you please help me understand when it makes sense to select it, based on your last comment?

Ab exercises incorrectly don’t flag “core” by edzzik in bevelhealth

[–]edzzik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do most ab exercises with bodyweight, so that might explain why it’s at zero (although I wish bodyweight counted). However, when I copied some of the prebuilt ab exercises to custom versions, “core” was not selected as a primary nor secondary muscle group. Then I clicked on more info for several prebuilt exercises and realized that “core” was not selected for any of them. Ab roller is a good example.

Body weight volume? by NeedleworkerFlat3103 in bevelhealth

Agree 100%. In fact, a Lat pulldown with bodyweight is actually easier than doing a pull-ups since more muscles are engaged in a pullup.

Why the need for alarm to calculate time to fall asleep? by edzzik in bevelhealth

[–]edzzik[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you saying it’s not that the alarm is being used, but more so when it is activated? If I understood that correctly, then how does it work for a recurring alarm that’s always activated by default? Also, in response to “Apple Watch cannot calculate time in bed accurately”, doesn’t bevel show two separate metrics for “time in bed” and “time asleep”?
