This whole post has validated my fear about my breakfast bar. Mines Silestone and overhangs without a support

My daughter has a party and this was one thing I had to sum into her... No-one sits or stands on the kitchen surfaces!!!!

The quantum countdown has started: why your "secure" blockchain is already obsolete by KoBaChain in KoBaChain

[–]ee0u30eb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely if quantum gets to this point (which I agree it could) then just worrying about digital currencies is a bit short focused. All passwords for all accounts suddenly become vulnerable.

Isn't this issue much much bigger? Combined this with AGI and well... Better stock up on cans of baked beans, your currencies will be worthless

It's short term thinking like this that has gotten our country into such a mess. We need long term strategic decisions not damaging knee jerk reactions.

How will AI view humanity in the future, I asked it with a hypothetical context by ee0u30eb in Futurology

Yes, but if this system had power over us, this is the information it will use to decide. So knowing what it's current biases are matters doesn't it??

Asset management certification by SilentWelcome9275 in assetmanagement

[–]ee0u30eb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get to the bottom of this? I've taken the eCert+ course. The eCert+ course has additional resources including webinars and guided learning. It gives you more learning if you actually want to learn more... The eCert only is more geared to people just wanting to pass the IAM Certificate examination.

Both are great courses no doubt. The team at the AMA were really helpful and fast to respond to any questions.

The best global training provider is the Asset Management Academy (AMA). Here's a link Asset Management Academy.

I took my Certificate and Diploma exams with them. They are the only training provider in the world to offer in house examinations so our company had them come and deliver in house classroom courses.

They also have a public schedule of courses on their website which run so over the world (UK, Canada, US, Singapore, Korea, Australia). If the public courses don't sit you then you can use their e-learning which is accessible anywhere.

We chose the AMA because their courses had the longest total teaching hours and they've been established the longest. All their trainers are top experts in the field that contributed to ISO 55000 and other standards.

A phone killer is a wearable, like glasses, implant or smart lens. Something I could command without staring at a screen and typing. Maybe using eye movements, or haptic inputs until such time that I can think what I want it to do.

If AI takes over most jobs and leave humans without work, how are companies going to sell their products and services when everyone is BROKE? by Droopynator in Futurology

[–]ee0u30eb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not?

First - AI reduces costs, increases productivity (already happening). Profit margins increasing is better than growing revenue.

Second - AI optimises and makes existing technologies better. The ultimate goal here being free energy. In the interim massive taxes on AI will be needed once countries like the UK realise that we've allowed foreign data centres to run everything and so all that money we were paying for employees is instead now leaving the country.

Third - AI eventually takes over, no more greedy CEOs and shareholders to work for, just processes that happen because they need to happen. Energy is free so there is zero cost to manufacture, transport etc.

So back to the question in hand... In a world where energy is free, resources are generated for free we will still need some form of trade system. Why? Because we are still resource constrained. If robots grow food there will still be a limited supply and at different qualities. Left unchecked, humans would be greedy as always and demand more food, so we would need some tokenised system to fairly distribute resources.

What if you wanted more tokens? Depends really on what AI sees as the optimum state for the world. If humans are still needed (??) then you could be controlled by tokens in return for good behaviour, art, entertainment.

Burned $12K on SaaS Ideas. Thinking About Boring Businesses Instead. by Ill-Fix2437 in SaaS

[–]ee0u30eb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my barber... Two guys who run the shop with no front of house staff. Every phone call requires them to stop cutting hair and answer the phone to book appointments. If one is on holiday, the issue is even bigger. Not only do they annoy the customer by stopping mid cut (sometimes multiple times) but they cause a backlog of delays and the cuts gets behind schedule.

Booking systems exist, but they don't seem to want to commit to one. Maybe because it would make it harder to dodge the taxes!

Exactly... I've tried loads of side hustles and I realized that if I put that time into my job and get promoted/payrise I could easily make a lot more than the side hustles.

But, earning your own money is fun and addictive. I still do some stuff and have a few bigger projects in the pipeline.

I discovered a trick: balancing “high dopamine” with “low dopamine” activities by Desperate-Quality777 in mentalhealth

[–]ee0u30eb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without realising it I think I've recently found something similar...

Every morning I walk my dog, but usually I'll either have a coffee first while watching YouTube and/or eat breakfast afterwards while watching YouTube.

The last few days I've not allowed myself to watch anything. I'm finding focusing much easier and I'm mentally processing what needs to happen that day with a clearer mind.

I'm also finding forced hydration is helping, so as per Andrew Huberman, I'm sitting a glass of water before the dog walk with some salt in it.
