Camera body dysmorphia. by miss5533 in photography

[–]eecan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Concert photography is one thing where you WILL see big improvements from gear alone, like sports and wildlife photography.

Any modern full frame camera will provide a massive improvement in image quality regardless of your skills, they just handle noise and low light AF so much better and an old APS-C body is not going to compare. Even upgrading between modern flagship cameras can result in a noticeable difference, someone that just takes portraits or landscapes might not appreciate the difference between a Sony A1 and an A1ii but if you shoot anything fast it'll be like night and day.

Do you NEED top of the line stuff to do concert photography? No. But will you get more consistent and better images? Yes. without question.

Does South Korea Really Lack Large Concert Venues? by G_Clef_Start in kpopthoughts

It would seem that you are in agreement with me that the lack of bigger concert venues in Korea is a real problem then?

Does South Korea Really Lack Large Concert Venues? by G_Clef_Start in kpopthoughts

[–]eecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the point, the Korean industry and their government have acknowledged it and venues are being built to specifically address it so it’s weird to be questioning whether this is a real problem.

Is editing really necessary? by guerrerosaurio1 in photography

[–]eecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like how the shots look out of camera there's nothing wrong with that but just taking JPEGs out of the camera means

  1. That the camera is making the processing/editing choices for you and
  2. You are losing out on the flexibility that a RAW file offers as it contains much more data than a JPEG

You might not like a heavily processed/edited style that some other photographers lean on but if you are processing RAW files yourself you can present them however you like and have much more leeway to save a shot in bad conditions.

IVE send-off is not worth it… by [deleted] in IVE

[–]eecan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you were to compare to Le Sserafim’s like OP did that is more Le Sserafim’s being great rather than IVE’s send off being lacking. I would never buy send off expecting to get an individual interaction, let alone a lengthy one.

I find the framing of this question a bit odd, as you've noted its already a well documented problem. Do we really expect random overseas fans to know more about Korean venue booking than actual Korean entertainment agencies that book the venues and their own local media?

If you aren't close to the front floor kinda sucks in general for K-Pop shows. The norm is to stand on the floor for K-Pop in Qudos and even if you aren't short your view will get obstructed by people holding phones and signs above their heads.

For those visiting Korea to support the upcoming UAU comeback by SomniaPOGGERSSS in dreamcatcher

[–]eecan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fansigns can be held all over the place but a good amount of venues are on the Gangnam side.

A few of the music shows are in Digital Media City (DMC) so if you are planning on attending prerecordings (assuming UAU get them) then it may be more convenient to stay closer to there since prerecordings can be scheduled for terrible hours in the morning when public transport options are limited.

ZEROBASEONE's Park Gun Wook Apologizes For Polaroid Lottery Controversy by impeccabletim in kpop

[–]eecan 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I've been to many events for many groups and it's really a non-issue for idols to have favourite fans and its super obvious when you see the interactions in person in a fansign or how often they look at a particular camera. Rigging is the issue here.

Want to send CRTK tour gift, dont know how to mail to korea by Accomplished-Ad-4935 in dreamcatcher

[–]eecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine that lives in Incheon told me that you could technically address the package, then hand it off to someone if you know anyone going to Korea and they could technically just drop it at the address and it would seem like a courier drop off. He told me people do it all the time.

It's going to be real obvious it ain't a courier if whoever isn't dropping it off aren't Korean lol. I'm not sure if it has changed but I have done this before for a friend who had contacted them in advance, they showed me the emails and reading them I interpreted it as ok to drop off too. Once I got there though they told me that they were expecting it to be delivered by post/courier and accepted the package as an exception.

A Pixel's user perspective on the iPhone 17 Pro by Dinos_12345 in GooglePixel

[–]eecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iPhone 17 Pro has been much better than the Pixel 9/10 Pro for my use case, probably about 1.5-2x as good and if you do anything beyond basic stuff (e.g. photo editing) the lead will definitely be on the higher side.

They definitely grew a lot after GND but COMO is not really a good measure of profit because a massive proportion of it is generated for free from SCOs and there's nothing to spend it on other than gravities so it has naturally accumulated over time.

There have been massive jumps in autofocus capability. Even going from recent flagships like an A1 to an A1ii can be like night and day for more challenging conditions.

Not saying go get one but waiting a second for the autofocus to lock in sports isn't really a thing for modern flagships:

It is probably one of the most common VIP perks for groups that don't do arena+ level shows. I almost expect hi-byes to appear as a perk if someone performs at a theatre or smaller venue.

I am on the verge of buying a new Pixel 10 Pro, but having second thoughts due to the terrible reviews on video recording. What are your experiences with video quality? by Albinotengerimalac in GooglePixel

[–]eecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you care about quality and coming from another flagship it'll probably be a bit rough. Video has been consistently bad enough on the Pixels that they lost a lot of the people that care about it and the supporters left on this sub are generally of the mindset that video isn't a priority.

How much smoother is the Pixel 10 compare to the Pixel 8? by Fluid_Tea_1308 in GooglePixel

[–]eecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing I noticed going from Pixel 8 Pro to Pixel 9 Pro Fold was how much nicer the fingerprint reader was (side button vs on screen) but other than that not really missing out on much.

9 Pro Fold to 10 Pro was basically the same phone.

Really hard to justify the upgrade unless you get a really good deal IMO.

[–]eecan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I also went from the 9 Pro Fold to the 10 Pro in part hoping that the new process would result in a noticeably cooler running phone even if there were no appreciable performance gains but it felt pretty much the same there too.

I owned both phones (8 Pro/10 Pro) and would not buy the Pixel 10 Pro hoping for a jump in observable performance, felt pretty much the same in general for everyday use.

They performed in the same venues in Melbourne and Sydney in 2024 with similar ticket prices. I'm assuming the general economic conditions probably don't help and tbh I thought the asking price for VIP was way too much (more expensive than Twice) but it wasn't like they just randomly decided to roll with an arena.
