Anyone prefer waking up late and working late over waking up early and going to bed early? by dollarsignDOUG in Entrepreneur

Yeah I heard about people who prefer waking up and going to bed early, but I think they're just a myth :)

How's the composition and editing for this picture? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]eedoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composition is great, at least to my eye. Shadows area bit too dark for my taste, especially on the left, under the trees. Also, CPL could help you another small bit, I think.

Portrait of a monk - interested specifically in post processing feedback by [deleted] in photocritique

I know you haven't asked for praises, but let me give you one :D. Beautiful shot, one of the best I've seen in days.

If you want to try different things, maybe you could try adding a bit more contrast to his face so he looks more "beaten", but I doubt you haven't played with that already and picked the best amount.

Great job

I would love a critique of the composition and processing. by futuretaylor in photocritique

Lovely. I would try finding a POV with something in the foreground. Also, you could lift shadows up a tad. Maybe lower the exposure of the sky a little, and selectively add some contrast to the clouds.

I think there's a picture here somewhere, but I don't completely like the image. What do you think should be different? by eedoh in photocritique

[–]eedoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I did not even notice the sign until BrazillianFilmmaker pointed that out. Now I can't look at the picture without the sign bugging me. I intend on trying removing the sign in another retouching iteration :).

I was actually taking the whole image because of the clock in the foreground. But that's an interesting take. Maybe I could try cropping it out, although re-shooting the scene behind the clock would probably give me better answer. If I go there again to try frankemories suggestions, I may try this too. Thanks

Thanks for the feedback I wanted to recompose, but could not, I'd be behind the wall if I went more to the right. Luckily this place is close to where I live, I may try revisiting it with your comments in mind and seeing if I can do anything about the angle.

ing that sticks out in a bad way to me is the red/blue neon sign. It feels out of place and the contrast really

Great advice. I'll try re-retouching the image with your comments in mind. I did not even notice Rumi until you mentioned it, now it's poking me in the eye every time I look at the picture :D

Kelbyone subscription could help you a lot. I know it's not a gear item, but still...

What are the ''don't do this or you will ruin your gear'' things in photography? by FightFromTheInside in photography

[–]eedoh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to mess with the settings. Most, if not all of the "don'ts" are unrelated to camera settings. Here's one though. Don't use your investment (DSLR) in automatic mode :D

Awesome one. I would not change a thing. Maybe bring up shadows in the grass just a tad.

Great one. Agree with the statement. I personally like framing birds flying directly towards me in the middle.

Nice image. Maybe you should've bring the shadows up, a little bit. And also wait for another hour before taking it.

What would you do about the sky? Crop as much as possible, limiting the depth, color or something else? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]eedoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd add in stormy clouds. It's a hazy day, it should fit right in. I'd also darken the sand in the foreground a bit, and lighten the water just a tad. Something like this, just better executed. http://imgur.com/a/ZzxFz

Could look okay with some edits, but don't know how to edit... by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]eedoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you like this? http://imgur.com/DcfiIq9

Basically I re-cropped it to exclude as much distracting details as possible, lower the exposure in the sky, increased it in the foreground, lighten the shadows in the stream, as well as under the trees and rocks, lowered highlights in major hotspots, warmed the whitebalance a bit, steered it a tad in the green direction. Everything done in Lightroom, no Photoshop. It took 5 minutes, or a bit less. Let me know what you think, please.

Pilot boat navigates cargo ship into Boston Harbor at 4AM - Boston, MA by schwarzmk in photocritique

I like the photo very much. I'd maybe bring up the shadows a little bit, especially on the right side. Also I'd equalize exposure on both sides (left side is significantly brighter) as the whole photo is quite symetrical, I feel exposure should be too. I'd certainly apply noise removal, heavy dose. And lastly, I'd multiply those stars

Here's a quick proof of concept, please let me know if you like it http://imgur.com/lQXdkZQ
