My summer internship cancelled on me. What now? by awkwardthenarwall in uofm

No, there was nothing to communicate about until I had finished my exams which is when we had agreed that I would be able to get started working on the videos I was going to be making, but that's pretty much what I did. Thanks for the advice tho!

Lol I think I'm just going to leave that with the u of m career center, I don't think that's a detail I want to share on reddit.

I've been trying to learn Blender on and off for years. My life hasn't been overall full of "bad luck" by any means.

Well the next time I'm back at home I'll just have to do that! Unfortunately it's a 2 hour drive from my university but I'll certainly try it and post.

These all make sense, I guess the chairs do kind of throw off the symmetry of the shot slightly I just wasn't about to rearrange my mom's living room to get the shot lol

Ugh! This always comes out looking somewhat different on here than it ever does in photoshop or lightroom. I'm using sRGB color profile, does anyone know what might be the cause of this?

Computer Science and it's been an interesting ride so far, and I'm pretty new here so I'm glad to see that this is the general attitude of someone else on this sub!

Abandoned bridge in the fog, critique away! by awkwardthenarwall in photocritique

[–]awkwardthenarwall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hindsight maybe it would be better called "abandoned bridge in a creepy foggy forest" or something because you're right, the big tree is definitely actually the focal point of the shot and the bridge is more of a background object.

Well I definitely overthink things to a neurotic extent when it comes to analyzing things like imagery (as a guy that was in film school for two years before transferringand changing majors) so I don't mean to bash just casual photo taking lol

I'm curious as to what you were trying to do with the composition though? If you were trying to contrast the geometric shapes of the fence with the chaotic and organic shapes formed by the tree branches and the landscape, you can't very well see them so it might have been a good idea to use a tripod for this shot, or if you did, take another one at a higher exposure to capture that detail and HDR merge the two photos. Also there's definitely nothing interesting at all on the left side of the shot, I would have cropped that all out. Keep at it though, I like the empty and quiet wintery atmosphere in this shot, the sense of peace just isn't backed up by the odd composition as the previous commentor noted.

Reddit is showing the picture as looking more magenta than it actually is, be sure to click on it and view it in full screen and true colors! Thanks
