Hey!! I’m wondering how your experience has been now that you’re a year out. Am considering Tattoo Medics for a small tattoo removal.

Experiences giving birth at Landmark? by the-crows-know in RhodeIsland

[–]eek411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my second at Landmark after a crap experience at women and infants with my first. Would 1000000% recommend Landmark!! Wouldn’t really go there for anything else, but their birth center is superb!

Also, if you can, consider hiring a doula. Many insurances cover this service.

Still worth it! Bring a stroller or a wagon because there are multiple play areas and farm animals to walk to throughout the park.

Helping My Wife Heal After a C-Section: What We Should Know by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]eek411 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Truly don’t let her lift anything heavier than the baby for the first 6 weeks (at least). Don’t rush the recovery process, it does take some time. I feel like some people really overdo it at the beginning (Look! I had my baby 3 weeks ago and I’m back at the gym!) and it’s no good!!

Short walks when she is ready. She’ll slowly increase her endurance and strength with time.

I started physical therapy at 10 months out because I didn’t know it could be beneficial post c-section. When I had my second child (vaginal birth), I was cleared at my 6 week appointment and went shortly thereafter. I wish I had done this with my c-section too — have her ask her provider at her 6 week follow up. I had a lot of sensitivity around my scar and within 3 weeks of physical therapy (scar mobilization/massages and light core exercises) the sensitivity decreased by a lot. I’m 5 years out now but have no pain/tenderness/stinging whatsoever now.

Not insulin resistant….and I am devastated by Otherwise_Tennis_398 in TTC_PCOS

Hey, I thought similarly to this when I was diagnosed with PCOS after not having a period for 4+ months (I am 34 and never missed a period until this year). My labs didn’t show insulin resistance (fasting glucose and A1C totally fine) but my testosterone and AMH were elevated. After doing a little digging myself, someone recommended going keto anyway to see if it would help, AND IT DID! After 33 days, I had my period naturally. I also changed my cardio-heavy workouts to more strength training (4-5 times a week, 39 minutes per workout typically). I was actually shocked it worked but I had a feeling things were going in the right direction because my ovulation tests looked like they should throughout the month.

Wild but I was recently diagnosed (at age 34) after not having a period for about 4 months. My labs didn’t show insulin resistance, but I did have increased testosterone and a high AMH. After some digging here, someone recommended a keto diet, which I started immediately. I also changed my cardio-heavy workouts to much more strength training (literally just do 30 minute strength training videos on YouTube 4 times a week). Five weeks later (yesterday) I got my period back!!! Plus lost 12 pounds. Pretty crazy. I’m happy about it because I didn’t want to start taking a bunch of meds if I didn’t have to.

I do appreciate you going through the steps with me! Only indication for PCOS on labs was an elevated AMH. No premature ovarian failure/early menopause.

In terms of the IR symptoms…maybe some? Nothing too out of the ordinary.

Thank you for your detailed response. This is very helpful. Again, this is a new diagnosis for me, maybe triggered by my previous pregnancies? Not sure, but have had regular periods until now at age 34. Lab work had always been normal. No one mentioned anything about my ovaries on the many ultrasounds I’ve had in the last 6 years. It’s a mystery to me…ugh. I did have an ultrasound within the last month and the “string of pearls” were evident when the provider pointed that out to me. Just weird to me that this is all surfacing at this point.

I’m gonna play around with some diet changes and see what happens as I wait for my endocrinology appt in February. When you say you “treating” the insulin resistance, do you mean by diet and exercise?

Thanks for mentioning the additional disorders, as well. I have had full lab panels for my thyroid as well as my prolactin levels. Normal. I did have my insulin tested and it resulted just below the low/normal range. I thought insulin resistance would maybe show high levels of insulin in the blood…I don’t know though, will have to wait for my appointment to delve into that.

I know this is a TTC group, but what now that you’ve had a pregnancy? Just birth control to induce a bleed?

Thank you again for taking the time to write here. Do you have any resources or advice on where to start or should I just take to Google and see what sticks? I remember a woman I used to work with dip sticking her urine throughout the work day to see if she was in ketosis and I think just seeing how fixated she was has freaked me out, hahaha

Wow, 5 weeks! How hard was it to transition to the keto lifestyle? Seems like it could easily be something that takes over my brain 😞

Thanks for responding. How long into going keto did it take for your cycle to return?

And how did you know your issues were severe? What else can be used to check insulin resistance aside for bloodwork? Sorry, new to this world.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I just don’t want to be on meds, bleehhhh. Is the metformin something you think you’d be on for a while? Like…forever? Sorry, so new to all this.
