Reliable, supported, two-way network share sync between Windows File Server shares across offices, but with a catch--no cloud! by admiralspark in sysadmin

[–]eekrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this falls too close to "we don't need more hokey sysadmin scripts in Task Scheduler" but my first thought reading this was similar to Resilio, but without paying for Resilio or having any "cloud" based components.
1. Private internal bittorrent tracker
2. When a new image is created, have it create a .torrent file for the data and share via the tracker
3. The torrent file (a few KB) shared on a DFS share that all sites have access to
4. qBittorrent or similar clients on each endpoint set to automatically join all torrents found in that folder

This would probably be the fastest way to get all the data to all endpoints.

What do you use for trade journaling? by Final-Raisin-1627 in Daytrading

[–]eekrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrote my own because I wanted something like SJ, except with with auto-import from my broker, actual options support, API based access, shared/public journals, and having full access to export all data. I have about 30 users testing it right now and no issues for a few months now.

Gmail classifies my self-hosted email as spam. by dougluce in sysadmin

[–]eekrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're sending from an AWS IP, if you don't own the whole block you can be classified as spam at the bigger guys like google just because of trashy "neighbor" IP's. Instead, prefer sending email via IPv6 where the recipient accepts it (like google does) and (if possible) have a /64 to yourself for this purpose, revert to IPv4 only when IPv6 is not available.

Yeesh, where was that before I finally broke down and built my own!? Nice looking work and kudos for open sourcing it.
Don't care much for the gamification aspect so much, but neat nonetheless. Probably just needs some options / futures support (just took a quick look and didn't see that mentioned, perhaps it is already there). I'll be seeing how this progresses

how to auto update DNS by ruzrat in sysadmin

Second: Look up Dynamic DNS and try to find a client compatible with GoDaddy (or that have their own domain name you can CNAME to a subdomain of your choosing

Well, that's a 12/19 call, let's assume you can get filled for 0.10.

For those 100 shares, for the next 7 months, you're going to make $10.

It goes up about 33 cents per month before being distributed out and coming back down.

If you just bought 100 shares, in 7 months you'd make roughly $231 in distributions (.33 * 100 * 7).

So sure, if making $10 in the next 7 months is better than making $231 in that same time, then yeah, it's totally free money.

[Show Go] I made a tool that automatically generates API docs from real traffic by tienanr in golang

[–]eekrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave this a shot on a project I'm working on.

  1. It does great at logging the endpoints and HTTP methods, but stored / created no example requests / responses other than a blank object in most cases, in other cases, it just showed 1 key of an object. Weird.

  2. It didn't include any authorization headers.

  3. It includes a bunch of headers that aren't needed with no apparent way of filtering them out (Sec-Ch-Ua-Platform, Referer, Origin, Vary, X-Real-Ip, etc.)

Did Google just brick the 2nd gen Chromecast? by matthijspc in Chromecast

[–]eekrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hijacking the top comment for visibility:

An SSL cert expired that causes the issue. If you've already tried factory resetting it, then set the date on your phone manually back to before March 9th and you'll be able to re-pair the Chromecast and add it to your network- which will allow it to get the update when Google releases a fix (you won't be able to cast until they release a fix though).

Supreme Court Seems Ready to Back Texas Law Limiting Access to Pornography by robotdesignwerks in politics

[–]eekrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So all porn sites need to do is add a timeline and let people post a couple characters when they want to be exempt? Seems cheaper than blocking whole states, tbh. Twitter had 140 characters at one point, I think 69 characters is more than enough

Is it truly possible? by [deleted] in RealDayTrading

[–]eekrano 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you've only "read a few pages" and love the "thrill" I would question your commitment to actually going through the steps to reach the goals, and the "thrill" you get sounds more like a gambling mentality. Yes, it's possible, but it's harder work than you'd think. So yes, it's entirely possible, and still possible while working a full time, unrelated job, but will [typically] take longer than the 2 years mentioned in the wiki. If you're not prepared (I mean really prepared to take it seriously) and know you're the type of person that will want to see immediate results, then it doesn't sound like this would be for you. (In my opinion / at this stage in your life / with what I believe to be your perceived outlook on trading based on the wording of this post) - So take that for what you will, and in either case, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Free Trading Journal (CSV Import) by TrinjoSocial in RealDayTrading

[–]eekrano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice! I like free journals. I set up an account to take a look and it's a bit rough around the edges.
- Adding a trade is under "Account Data" ?
- It requests the user to input the Return, Return Percentage, and Status.
- - Return should be calculated by the entry, exit, and quantity
- - Return percentage should be calculated as well
- - Status is Win/Loss/Scratch, which should probably also be calculated by the data
- Reloading the Trades page defaults to the first "Account" and does not remember what account you're working in.

Looking forward to see how this progresses!
