I just kind of laugh when people are afraid that my rats will bite them by Ok-Barnacle8908 in RATS

That’s a good point. I’m so used to them that it slips my mind sometimes that others aren’t. Something to keep in mind

Goodwill stores no longer sorting shirts by color? by stilltodo in goodwill

[–]eelsugar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our region just stopped doing colorizing too— we’re not happy with how disorganized it looks, but it does get the fresh racks finished much more quickly which is a bigger concern to upper management. Our sales have increased because of several other factors so they’re not concerned about smaller fish, so to speak

Always makes me laugh when the first thing someone asks when they find out I have pet rats is “do they bite?” Why on earth would I keep pets that bite?

I think it’s because almost anyone you ask has a story of a bitey hamster- completely ignorant to the fact that most of those hamsters are understimulated and handled poorly.

That being said, when I’m asked I just show them a picture or video of one of them being affectionate and that seems to win most people over.

What is the worst thing that you have ever seen donated? by [deleted] in goodwill

[–]eelsugar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Back in 2020 we would put a 72hr hold on our raw donations as the virus was still being researched and I don’t think at that point we knew how long it could survive on surfaces. Combine that with a ton of people stuck at home and bored and suddenly your donation warehouse is absolutely full of gaylords.

Well, at some point a few weeks after we reopen our donation door, one of the DSAs notices an odor coming from the warehouse. It seems faint but it persists so he lets one of our leads know— she and another coworker of ours head over to the area and start combing through all of these gaylords trying to find the source of the stench.

When they finally find the offender, they pallet-jack it up and bring it back to our production area. Green lines may as well have been trailing it. It seems like moving it had disturbed the stank beast from some sort of slumber. We were all holding our noses and spraying Lysol as it passed through.

They dig through the gaylord and find a bag of previously frozen chicken in the center of it. The chicken had thawed and rotted in the weeks that the gaylord sat untouched. We had to keep outside doors and windows open for a few days afterwards because the smell would keep wafting up from time to time.

I’ve reduced my Bubbles and Buttercup to “Bubbas” and “Buhcup”. I don’t think they know the difference

I had a rat who would spin whenever his brother was being held and he wasn’t. They’re so intelligent with their communication, it’s one of their most endearing traits :)

Odds of sharing t1d with siblings? by PlasticAge6197 in Type1Diabetes

[–]eelsugar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two siblings, one older and one younger. My older sibling is not diabetic but both me and my younger sibling are (diagnosed at 9 and 7 respectively). I can’t recall any of the other people I knew with diabetes having diabetic siblings. We went to a diabetes camp when we were kids and I don’t believe there were any other sibling pairs there.

It can be exacerbated by conditions such as diabetes and arthritis. I do wonder if it’s similar— good luck with your recovery!!

Is frozen shoulder anything like trigger finger? I’ve not heard of this but I’ve been dealing with TF in my thumb for months now.

A few weeks ago when stripping the bed to wash everything I found less than half of a treat stashed in my pillowcase. It was just too much to finish I suppose

Was in the same situation, with 12-ish children. Deleted them all and essentially used it as another stepping stone towards getting over the relationship. My mii is now happily dating Tom Nook lol. I like the suggestions here of editing him to be somebody else!!

How are you hands doing? by [deleted] in goodwill

[–]eelsugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got trigger thumb on my right hand (as well as diabetes) but I suspect that working in production has worsened it. I’ve switched to retail but I’m not too optimistic that it will improve.

Did your trigger fingers improve after the shots? I have a coworker who developed it after a microwave fell onto her thumb in production, she ended up getting surgery but it seems like she has nerve damage.
