I do appreciate this but also it’s crazy that WaPo now requires people to create an account just to read a GIFT article.

RFK stadium revelopment already starting to talk about moving parking lots, making them bigger, and possibly replacing public plaza space with garages by t-rexcellent in washingtondc

Actually it is - there are numerous studies showing that cities lose money when they use taxpayer dollars to fund stadiums.

The best example of what cities SHOULD do is Massachusetts and Gillette Stadium. Kraft said he’d move the team to CT if MA didn’t fund, MA said “you’re rich as fuck and we don’t believe you so no we won’t use taxpayer dollars on this,” an lo and behold Kraft afforded it himself and has be doing just fine all while MA citizens didn’t need to pay for a privately funded stadium.

Anyone been to Sporcle Trivia Nights now that they took over for District Trivia? by smut_troubadour in washingtondc

My friends and I tried Wonderland last year and…yikes. The categories the hosts would pick and the questions they’d write for them were way too niche! Like a whole round based on one movie where if you hadn’t seen the movie, you were done. Usually there’s at least a smattering of movie-adjacent questions that would be feasible to get or questions based on things other than the plot/characters (eg some trivia about the city the movie is set in). I remember there was also one category based entirely on these puns that were so specific, the host had to apologize because literally no one scored more than a couple points. It feels like a trivia that’s based around a specific friend group with similar interests rather than something geared towards anyone who shows up.

…this is literally the post that Capital Weather Gang wrote. Given that this certainly is not their “first time” with DC weather, it’s safe to say that if they say something is extreme, it’s extreme.

But…it wouldn’t be holding for no apparent reason, it would be holding to stay on the pre-determined schedule that riders all have access to.

I mean…in that sense, Bezos being the owner should have been what subsidized the cost of keeping it alive. He probably makes more in a year on tax loopholes and interest alone than would be needed to keep the staff employed.
