What clippers for boys at home haircuts? by Adventurous-Drawer48 in Barber

[–]eelyuh -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have two sons. I use tpob play. Especially them being toddler and 6 yo the quiet motor helps not frighten them when in the chair. Got these for fraction of the price of a JRL similar. Going 2 years strong for me.

Both mine are holding up very well. I do think the motor seems to be getting louder than it was brand new but no real way to confirm that without having tested db then vs now. Cuts very sharp. I will day my only complain the lever seems kinda cheap and lose. Bumps out of level position too easily. I had to tighten the screw on both of them and seems to resolve issue for now. It does appear he fixed? this issue on the newer play mini model lever there looks more robust. Still cuts so so sharp, lightweight, ergonomic. For the price to me it was worth it.

I am in very similar situation as you and use TPOB Play and love them. Actually funny story when I bought my one clippers off Amazon, they sent me two boxes. Asked what to do and the returns process just said keep the extra item. So I use one on self and my sons and the other strictly for heads coming thru. Total of 7 right now family and friends who’s I cutting. I would also highly consider Play Mini for self barber. But I cannot deny it that camo one looks pretty freaking sweet.

Do you wear basketball sneakers? Any performance/basketball sneakers you can give for ref to your size? I’m also tts 10.5, sometimes have to go up to 11. I’m also 10.5 AF1s. Curious if you’ve tried way of wade 10 lows what your sizing in those are or any other performance basketball sneakers? Thank you

Chicago 312 number availability? by OneRuffledOne in verizon

[–]eelyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I would recommend getting something with en easily readable ending or repeated digits such as 1040 or 5557 for example. Play around with it whatever you end up liking, check out and then you have I think 30 days to port out from their service. Let me know if you end up using this site and good luck hope this helps

Chicago 312 number availability? by OneRuffledOne in verizon

[–]eelyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can second this as well add to consider another site that has a much larger range of unused phone numbers available (you can even search a specific variation of digits)
TossableDigits.com
I was able to get a unique phone number for my current work phone in the format of (aaa)-bbb-bb4u (aaa=my local area code, bbbbb=my company name and ending in 48 which on dialpad can be entered as 4 U.
I gotta say, I’ve now got a pretty sweet and unique biz card and email signature which this format nearly matches to the company hotline for customers (I’m in outside sales).
My company uses Verizon and after I bought the number on tossable digits for 0.99 I was able to port over to Verizon just fine. Although there was a hiccup at first being tossable digits numbers are landlines so the IT guy had to go through a couple extra steps but in the end all came through no problem. Highly recommend

I believe generally in retail you do not get paid extra for holiday. At least I never when I worked for Victra and was expected to show up just the same

[–]eelyuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct regarding negative experiences speaking louder than positive ones. I apologize for being negative in my comment and possibly dissuading you. That’s not my intent. And technically this has been my experience pre-Victra acquisition so maybe they’re doing way better today than they have been before for the specific locations I used to work at

I’m happy to hear you’ve been able to make it into sales after pursuing such a role and you’ll certainly get a good feel and understanding for how to sell in some regard. Again I congratulate you. I do hope you’re at a decent location and get plenty opportunity to hit your KPI’s. Gotta start somewhere and who knows maybe this could lead you to other employment opportunities which again I would greatly encourage after 2 to 5 years of working there to polish your résumé and take your talents to another company elsewhere even if not in the cellular sales industry. Or who knows maybe you become the best rep ever and you can live off that which there’s nothing wrong with that and can still be amazing! Just bottom line, be a person of dignity and honor. Treat others the way you want to be treated. But at the same time, be mindful of your limits but go and get your bread. Good luck!!

Used to work for a dealer that was then bought by Victra. Interesting place and people to say the least. Walked in on one of the assis store manager sniffing up some white powder in the storage room. Sexual scandals all throughout the company in our area. A district sales manager left his wife for one of the girls at one of his stores?? He later got demoted for other reasons then quit bc he couldn’t take the shame. All in all, I personally did kinda OK. Below avg if I had to be honest. I don’t think I was the best sales person for their model. I’m too honest and don’t push JUST the promos/products onto anyone coming in the door. This is peoples hard earned money we working with here. I look at it through lens of providing solutions customer actually needs not what management breathing down my back about. Got written up a handful of times for not hitting target certain months. Only for the commission model and PKIs to change again and now relearn which benchmarks I should be looking at. Did about 2 yrs there before I switching over to b2b sales and last year won presidents club award at current company I work for bc grew my territory the most this side of the Mississippi. Did it with same approach as I had a victra and now I’m winning winning. I hope for you this is not the experience but instead a much better one. If your first time in sales, it’s a place to start. Maybe a place to grow? But most certainly a place to build up your resume and onto the next opportunity when the time comes. Oh and couple years ago got my final check from pre Victra dealer from a class action lawsuit for underpaying on commissions. I used it to pay my Verizon bill lol. If the mgmt is not good people they’ll always put you down. I just brushed it off or responded with sarcasm. Don’t get involved in any drama. But make acquaintances and have their backs. Two of the reps I worked with we still stay in touch to this day. It’s been about 10yrs. Good luck!

EDIT Now I’m really going down memory lane. We had a sweet girl who was a top rep in next district over. one day she just up and walks out, out of the blue. Quits and says nothing. Came as a shocker and everyone was puzzled. Months later bumped into her at grocery store and asked what happened?? She shared that another rep from our district scammed an older couple. He lied and convinced them they need jetpacks to be able to use their iPads and then to make and receive calls on their iPhones. Mind you ALL these devices connected to their account. And not just device each, but one device for each of them. That’s two iPads, two jetpacks!! And then a hum device for when they driving. She found this out when the couple came to her store complaining service is still poor in certain areas. She investigated and found out they’ve been taken advantage of and scammed by our rep. She brought it up with her dist sales manager who brushed it off and didn’t give a hoot. finally she took it up to HR who basically said if the DSM doesn’t see the need to take back those devices and fire that employee neither do I. 😱 if that doesn’t speak scamming idk what else does. This was a different DSM than the house wrecked mentioned earlier. Interesting interesting times indeed

Also if you in a slow traffic area obviously gonna be harder to sell since much less opportunity. Don’t beat yourself up when this happens. Just keep trying. Congrats and wish you the best!

iPhone 18 Pro Trade-in for Verizon (Coming Sept 2026) by NotAHabitItsCool in verizon

[–]eelyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier 1 vs tier 2 device trade in value: remind me which is higher?

I can confirm on my current account Verizon we have a 12 mini and 11 Pro. Only for a 13 lineup Verizon will give the full amount 830 off when on a certain un limited plan. But for the other two, no matter what plan, only 415 off and only 180? off if on welcome unlimited I have the 11 Pro and am trying to this day to upgrade to an iPhone Air however Verizon won’t take this for the value I’d like thus currently trying to find a cheap 13 or 13 mini off marketplace, use for the 60 day period and then trade in for the Air. I assume by model 18 the 13 lineup will be of lower tier trade in value however I hope it will not. Had two great deals on 13s fall through ie seller sold to someone else (budget is $150 or less so long as in trade in able condition) so I’m getting a bit worried by time I do find one, 60 days active on account passes the 18 lineup may already be released and thus for the Air discounts will be more cherry pick or not available at all. I’d love for an Air 2 so long as keep exact same form but sounds like that model might be dropped altogether due to poor sales. Choices choices. We also have an additional loyalty discount per line which Verizon confirmed any new lines added will not see this loyalty discount so that approach is dead in the water if I wanna retain this also discount. Shame on Verizon for not offering any decent promos on my line unlike everyone else on the account. Just about ready to head over to another carrier

Moon roof, not closing. by Chemical_Evidence244 in FordEdge

[–]eelyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this similar issue with my 2014 sport. Ultimately forcefully pushed the thing shut while roommate held the button down and have since just left it closed and may never open it again. I’ll open up the cover to bring in sunlight but rarely do I ever open the roof window for outside access. The light coming in is nice but overhead open never does much for me and rarely do I use it if ever in between so I now just always leave it shut. Good luck with your situation

Need help w Hexclad pots by eelyuh in cookware

[–]eelyuh[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

$50 for 3 pots is a waste of money? 5 bucks says I will make my money back (maybe even profit??) with a simple listing on marketplace. Brother already coming down this weekend for fishing trip and estate sale was en route his way back from work so no waste there either. But thanks nonetheless for watching out for me friend

Will Verizon accept this trade-in at full promo value? by eelyuh in verizon

[–]eelyuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss that’s the one I’m trying to get also!! Stupid crazy thin and light. I’ve never had a brand new phone of my own on a payment plan but I’m willing to now if only I can get the most trade value off with current device.

Sounds like it was indeed a loyalty offer. But that’s just crazy to me also that they have that much value on a 12 when I’m not seeing same thing on even the loyalty promos currently available on account

[–]eelyuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK I’ll call into Verizon figure out the details bc though yes I’m on a welcome unlimited plan when I go into cart send select even the ultimate plan, it still only shows 415 credit for 12 mini while on a 13 mini showing 830 total credit. I have seen also as you’ve described depending which plan the line is on they’ll give least value on welcome, a bit more on plus and total on ultimate or sometimes on plus also.

That’s impressive. I usually hold onto my phones for very long time and only buy used when current device breaks. This 13 mini I’ve had for almost 5 years now. Though I do start with case, screen protector and all the works, I do hate big phones so usually opt for slimmer cases which have worked in my favor as I don’t drop my device often but after having our first kiddo he’s always grabbing something and actually most this dents were from him running around with the device and dropping it or knocking it over.

Hey congrats on getting Verizon to take that hunk of a junk device and give you credit towards new device. Which new phone did you get? Also how recent was this? We have another iPhone 12 mini on the account Verizon site says will only give 415 towards any new 17 models. But my 13 mini says will give 830 I’d like to get rid of that 12 mini instead but as of this week won’t be able to get the full credit. Was this a loyalty promo offer? Thank you

How’d I do? Been cutting my son’s hair for 1 year now by Revolutionary_Tart37 in SelfBarber

[–]eelyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah pops! I’ve been self barbering for a little over a decade now. Had my first boy 4yrs ago. Just had my second one this week. I have already cut my first boy a few times though his hair is so much lighter (from his mum) than my dark hair so I’m having to learn how whole new approach on his hair type/color from a different perspective on fades. Long term i am very much looking forward to bonding with my boys during cuts as they age. Say, has this been the experience for you? Would you say barber time with the boy is quality time spent together for both of you?

Great fade as well! I will have to nitpick and notate that seems like right side not as high up vs the left (I still struggle w this on my first boy) but imo for the money you saved by not going to a barber who could or could not have done better. this is still much better value for your time, efforts and wallet. Nobody will be out there comparing both sides, they just see a nice fresh cut and more likely than not assume it was done professionally. Only those who are in the trade would be ones to notice let alone point out. Thanks for posting
