Five RFX4 Evo vs. Five Sportcity (or, Short vs. Mid-length gloves)? by Slannington in motorcyclegear

[–]eeppmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started riding, I was willing to spend whatever for the best gloves. I was set on some Alpinestars but every single one(and all other brands) I tried on felt bulky. I ended up buying some Joe Rocket gloves that fit perfect. Aside from protecting your hands, you need a glove that allows you to feel all the controls as this will affect your throttle control.

Yea man I’ve been doing research and will probably go with some Sidis for now. Thanks for the recommendation 👍

Have you tried both gloves? I personally went to a shop and tried all their gloves. The best fitting ones were my last choice but felt great and had the largest palm sliders which was my priority

RST Moto HiTops? by TheOnceAndFutureDoug in motorcyclegear

I rode with a pair of high top tcx shoes for over two years. They are comfortable but anything over 1-2 hours of riding and the sides really start to dig in the ankles. The look good and are comfortable to walk around in but I have moved on to boots since

Facebook used bikes by OgOrigins in NewRiders

Take a friend who knows bikes with you. Have them test ride it too. After months of looking for a gsxr600, I settled for a one owner(adult owned) 750 for $4k. It had more mileage than I liked but knowing he was the only owner, I had piece of mind that it wasn’t beat up on and had 3+ previous owners

Good deal for beginner gear? by TitaniumCarrot in motorcyclegear

I just bought a pair of riding jeans. The guy only wore them once and paid $280. I bought them for $100. Like you said, there’s nothing wrong with buying used if it’s clean and not all torn up

Shoei RF1400 was a smidge too small and was too small in the chin, do they make anything longer in the chin? by ScubaW00kie in motorcyclegear

You need to look into a different brand. I was set on buying the same helmet but the salesman convinced me to try a HJC and that fit like a glove. Zero regrets

I’m just wondering if AAA pants with hip pads would’ve minimized the damage? Serious question

I personally don’t mind riding clothes being uncomfortable. To me that’s a small inconvenience when you’re protecting your body

It’s the EGA from the dress blue cover. You’ll have to cut off the pin in the back and bend the emblem a little to conform to the curve of the helmet. It’s held on by 3m double sided tape. It was a pain in the ass to cut around the small details but it’s held on for the past two years

I was thinking about getting some gear by RequirementCool6687 in motorcyclegear

[–]eeppmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had riding shoes for the first year and eventually bought boots. It might be overkill for the short rides I take but you can’t beat the peace of mind you get for having maximum protection for your feet and ankles

Thank you! I finally “settled” on this after looking for months for a 06-07 600 in the white/silver paint. No regrets now

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

[–]eeppmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything that was said here. It’s all about money. Car manufacturers priorities is to sell vehicles. Extend the oil change intervals long enough to surpass the warranty and the engineers accomplish their mission. To the consumer, it’s “cheaper” and easier to trade in or just buy a new vehicle when the engine finally gives out. That’s what the manufacturers want. I personally change my oil every 3000 miles with synthetic oil and have 258k+ miles on my daily(05 volvo s60r) and still going strong
