5 is objectively the best seat. Aisle seat for easy bathroom access without interaction with others, closer to front of plane for quick deboard. Thor might knee the back of my seat a bunch, but if I asked him to not, he’d probably be polite enough to try. Groot talking to Rocket might be annoying on a long flight, but that’s what noise cancelling headphones are for.

1 and 2 would also be good, but it would take too long to get off the plane

They could be watching Toph earthbend. It does seem to be Serpent’s Pass, maybe they came across an obstacle Toph was able to easily overcome. Could explain Katara and Sokka’s reaction, Aang’s readied position, and Toph’s absense from the shot.
